I had a really bad experience here. The service was worst, I can only give 1 star for the service. Coming to the food, we had ordered dosa and none of them were hot. I personally feel even when you re heat a dosa in microwave it would be hot, but this wasn't. So, we called the guy who was standing at reception and complained about the dosa. I dont if he understood what we said, he had no expressions or an answer to whatever we told. so, we asked him to call the manager. He goes inside and some other guy comes from kitchen( I dont know if he is the manager)We told him what had happened and that guy told us they just made the dosa. So we asked him to feel how cold the dosa was and he says "ok mam ok mam" and goes inside. He dint tell us you will get a fresh one, or you can leave that and not pay for it or nothing at all! He just went back into the kitchen with no response. We waited for like 10-15 minutes without anyone coming out. So we decided to keep all those cold dosa's on the empty table beside us, and we had whatever we felt was freshly made and hot. We had vada that was good and also upma. I do not have any complaints about the food or taste, but the service really matters, You guys should hire better people for that or atleast improve your service level. This was the first time I visited "The Madurai Modern Cafe", since I got confused with the very popular "Madurai Idli Kadai" thinking that this could be their new branch. I was a little surprised to see there were hardly any people at 8.40am on a Saturday morning. Hope you take the suggestions into...
Read moreShame on the owner for False advertising. The store has big sign of All You Can Eat Breakfast but the owner very rudely & in a insulting way refuses to honor that. Instead of removing the false advertisement he argues and bluntly insults you. When we decided to order something from the menu, he wanted us to pay first. We had no problem with that, but he insisted us to leave a TIP, how can we leave a tip without seeing the service and tasting the food. To this the owner got mad and treated us so badly that after charging he just threw my credit card and went inside without giving me my receipt. Such a disaster that instead of asking me that wether I need the receipt or not, he just went inside without saying anything. After pressing his bell for 6-7 times when he came outside, I asked him my receipt, to which he totally refused and told me he cannot give it now. Anyhow we waited for our food, to get more shock. Rawa dosa was the worst I had in my entire life & Kara uthappam was made in a rush, it was raw & had a pungent smell, Idlys looked as if they were frozen and he just warmed it in the microwave and vadas were hard like rock. When we brought this into the owners attention, he bluntly replied- this is how it is made. When we asked him for some extra dipping sauce, he stared at us in such a manner, as if we asked him his Kidney. Please strictly avoid this place, as you will only receive a Rude, Full of Attitude, Insulting owner who will serve you, one of the worst and foul smelling food. He will charge you in the beginning and will Beg infront of...
Read moreIf you’re on the hunt for comfort food that captures the essence of South Indian cuisine, look no further. This place is a gem for anyone craving traditional dishes with great taste and quality. One of the standout items on the menu is the pongal, a savory rice dish that’s both hearty and satisfying. It’s perfectly cooked, with a texture that’s creamy yet substantial, making it a true comfort food.
Another must-try is their crispy dosa. This South Indian staple is done to perfection here – golden brown and crispy on the outside, with a soft, flavorful filling inside. Each bite is a delightful mix of textures and flavors that can transport you straight to the streets of South India.
The service at this restaurant is impressively quick, so you won’t have to wait long to dive into your meal. Despite the high quality of the food, the prices are very reasonable, making it an excellent choice for a satisfying meal that won’t break the bank.
While their focus is on South Indian cuisine, the menu also includes some noodle dishes and other items. Although I haven’t tried these yet, it’s good to know that there’s a variety for those who might want to explore beyond the traditional offerings.
Overall, this restaurant is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy authentic South Indian food. The combination of quick service, fair prices, and soul-soothing flavors makes it a top pick. Whether you’re in the mood for a comforting pongal or a crispy dosa, this place is definitely...
