Came here for the first time in May after seeing so many good Google reviews but it was just OK…and quite an overpriced just OK at that for a vegetarian dish.
Not sure what the hype is about but for the price I was expecting much more in both taste and quantity.
The best part? The “cold pressed” pineapple juice was tasty. The watermelon juice was not--completely bland. Maybe don't sell fresh fruit juice from fruit that's not ripe/not in season yet).
The food itself tasted OK but was far too small a portion for what we paid, even with the giant sides of chopped onion. (Who needs that much raw onion?) The bread was fluffy and bland as it's meant to be...good for soaking up sauce, if only there were more sauce to soak up.
I get that bhaji might not be common here so maybe that's what makes this place unique and why some people rave about it. But overall it didn’t live up to the hype or the price.
You could go to most any Indian restaurant, buy a single dish of the cheapest vegetarian item on the menu, add paneer to it, order some naan, and you’d get the same amount of food (or more) for two people for less money. And while you’re at it, order a few lassis for the price of one potentially bland, expensive juice.
Would I go back? Nope. Should you give them a try? Maybe if paj bhaji is something you've been craving and want to try theirs. But if you're just looking for tasty Indian cuisine at a reasonable price you'll find many other more -satiating options out there at a...
Read moreWe were recommended Pav Bhaji Hut from our friends. Wife and I were super excited to try it out. We made our trek from Pleasanton to Sunnyvale yesterday with expectations of having the first bite of the bhaji bring us close to remembering why this street food is loved by many. NOTE: the food truck is tucked away between a gas station and an office parking lot. There are a few spots you can use and most cars kept rotating fairly quickly.
We love spicy food so we ordered one spicy pav bhaji, one spicy cheese pav bhaji and a regular one for the kids. Sadly, both of us were disappointed. The spiciness was just a few extra spoons of garam masala. Every bite just felt muted with the same flavor of garam masala. We did not taste any other flavors in the bhaji. We appreciated use of Amul cheese and butter but it was not enough to save the muted taste. We will give it another try if we're back in the area but will not be making a special trip for it. FYI, there are two other food trucks at the same location. We'd recommend trying them out at the same time instead of going straight for pav bhaji. Hope your...
Read moreIf you're craving authentic Indian street food in Bay Area, Pav Bhaji Hut is a must-visit. This cozy eatery specializes in the beloved Mumbai classic, pav bhaji, and they do it complete justice. It's a great spot for a quick bite or a relaxed meal with friends and family. Food is served promptly, which is always a plus when you're hungry and ready to dig in.
The star of the show is, of course, the pav bhaji. The bhaji is rich and flavorful, perfectly spiced with a hint of butter that adds to its decadence. The pav is soft, buttery, and toasted to perfection. Aside from the classic pav bhaji, they offer variations like cheese pav bhaji and spicy pav bhaji, catering to different tastes and dietary preferences. Their menu also includes another very popular Indian street food favourite vada pav which we absolutely loved and is definitely a must try here.
Overall Pav Bhaji Hut in Sunnyvale delivers on all fronts – delicious food, friendly service, and good value. Whether you're a pav bhaji aficionado or new to this dish, you're in for a treat. Highly...
