Terrible.
Not all Golden krust restaurants are created equal.
I am a frequent flyer of Golden krust I absolutely love their food... But this particular location is doing it wrong.
Ordered the jerk chicken.
No jerk chicken on the warmer, so they had to go to the back to get me what I presumed was fresh hot jerk chicken, only to be totally disappointed.
They gave me my tray of food, I paid, and went on my way...
Sat in the car began to eat my food only to realize that the jerk chicken was cold, tough and dry, a clear indicator this was yesterday's chicken. :/
Went back, let them know the chicken was cold... I asked for a replacement... They were about to go to the back to get me more yesterday's chicken so I said no thank you and requested the stew chicken on the food warmer tray area, at least I figured that would be nice hot and fresh.
Got my tray of food and went on my way again...
Got to the car, tasted the stew chicken... Lukewarm at best... The quality of the rice, was also terrible... It does not appear that this location is using Golden krust franchise approved ingredients... Doesn't even taste like Golden krust.
I later realized why the food was lukewarm... The food warmer by design is supposed to have all trays inserted in to it so that it traps the steam which is what keeps the food hot...
The food warmer had several trays missing so the steam was simply exiting, not keeping the food hot.
Keep in mind this also open another door to the possibility of contamination and or poisoning altogether.
Long story short, corporate needs to visit this store and re-train everybody.
Because the key to a successful franchise is consistency...
Read moreI asked the lady on what's the lunch special. She said all of this except oxtail and fish. I looked around and asked her if the mac and cheese is included in the lunch special. She said no. I asked what is included, she responded 'all of this'. I then asked for callaloo and festival to which she says it's not part of the lunch special and the festival doesn't go with the callaloo. I asked what goes with the callaloo. She then says, this is lunch and that is breakfast. I then asked if the fritters come with the callaloo. She said no. I asked what goes with the callaloo. Before answering she hissed her teeth and proceeded to help a customer at the cash register. Another employee came out, and she asked him to help me. I asked him what goes with the callaloo. He said, festivals and dumplings. I then said, are you sure festival goes with it as she told me no. He then says to me let me ask her. To his question, she then says I already told her festival isn't included. To which I responded that he told me. I was about to say I asked him to clarify but she yelled at me stating she was speaking to him and not me. She responded to his questions using me as the subject and not just clarifying or answering his direct question (is festival included with the callaloo). I appreciate the service from this young man, however, the lady needs customer service training instead of her singing gospel songs. Her behavior is not befitting of what she was singing at all. Read moreI was happy to find a new Golden Krust restaurant that knows the meaning of urgency.
Once entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a lovely young lady named Shandese and cheerful smiling named Nick that was standing behind the counter.
Their friendly faces made me feel comfortable, so I decided to eat in instead of taking my food and head home.
I ordered a small jerk pork with vegetables rice with plantains and cabbage. The spices of the jerk pork were well seasoned and tender. Also, the fat wasn’t seen on my meal. The vegetables rice was different but paired with my meal like opposite attracts.
Another thing that I noticed about this Golden Krust location is that their food display didn’t have any food residue or any meat gravy that was left behind when preparing a takeout for a customer. Their tables, booths, chairs and floor were spotless! The aroma smelled like fresh linen!
Overall, I am pleased with this Golden Krust location and the excellent experience that I had encountered.
