A&W Restaurant — Restaurant in Superior

I honestly love the food at A&W restaurant. It's been a classic choice that my family has been going to since I was a child. The one in superior could be doing a lot better, and I will offer some unsolicited advice. you have a number of ordering stations that are constantly out of order, even when you are very busy there will be two or three or more stalls where nobody is parked because they pull in just to find the out of order paper taped to it. When people see that they just leave if there's nowhere else to go. Instead, why not make a nice plastic sign with the phone number of your restaurant and stick that there and ask people to call and make the order, like I did the other day which surprised whomever answered but it still worked. Another thing is tips. Your food it's already a little more expensive then Burger King across the street, I will agree your food tastes better and is probably better quality however it's still a bit more. On top of that I am always made to feel obligated to tip. Even when I just get a chili dog and fries some of your employees will actually point to the area on the machine where it accepts a tip or they'll ask me right out how much would I like to tip. That brings my order price up a couple of bucks so sometimes I just don't even go. Other than that everyone seems friendly there and the portion sizes are good and like I mentioned before the food is delicious. We love going to A&W because it’s a nostalgic type feeling. Went tonight around 6pm and although it was busy, our server was so kind and welcoming. Made sure we were good and even apologized for our food taking a while (and when we sat that table hadn’t been cleaned yet, but we didn’t mind ☺️ ) we could tell she was working hard and was probably overwhelmed but she handled like a pro. Orders came out fresh and exactly how we ordered including side sauces (to me, thats the attention to detail that makes or breaks an experience). I forgot her name but she was probably my favorite server I’ve had there and deserves some extra kudos ❤️

As for the food…Hands down I think A&W has one of the best chicken tenders in town between Duluth & Superior. Fries were fresh and perfectly cooked. Our server came back to top off our root beers without us even asking and it was a great meal and worth the wait. My only regret was not getting an ice cream on...

I love this A&W! I've lived here for over 30 years and when I want a taste of nostalgia and some daily drafted root beer, A&W will always be my choice! They've got a lot to offer on their menu but I'm a sucker for the Papa Burger and a Coney dog with chili cheese fries and a root beer float! Now that's a meal! I've only had a problem a few times when they were super busy and understaffed. That's not their fault in my eyes. Besides, I know what I'm getting for food and I know it'll be good. So, I ignore the minor inconveniences. Any other time, it's business as usual. I never have to wait long to make my order or for the food. I was so glad that they didn't close there doors after Covid. This A&W is a staple in this town and one of the longest running independently owned A&W's that's left in existence!
