Surf Diner — Restaurant in Surfside Beach

Surf Diner 11 S Ocean Blvd, Surfside Beach, SC Arrived on Saturday 07/22/2017 around 7pm found parking right away inside the restaurant was a little busy but on the deck had a lot of seating and since it had been a very warm evening the breeze felt great we chose to sit on the deck celebrating my husband’s birthday we ordered our drinks and our food all at the same time drinks arrived except for 1 strawberry daiquiri we waited and waited finally I stood up and asked the busboy if he could advise the waitress that we did not get this drink after 20 or so minutes it was brought to the table and said it was on the house. Ok great, so now we are watching the ocean watching people around us get their food and still no food we are asking for refills on out water and tea and getting it from everyone walking around the deck area. I get up and ask what is going on with our food and we are told your food is coming we are busy. OK great we wait and wait now 30 min I proceed once again to get up and look for the manager who advises your ticket is next REALLY? We have 8 empty cups of water and tea 3 mixed drinks that was terrible no food we had to request that some of the glasses be removed because there was no more room for the glasses to fit and we have watched numerous of tables with people eat and leave who arrived at the same time and then after us get their food before us and our food is still coming with only 4 plates. What is going on we finally get our food and told the Birthday boy (Husband) dinner is on the house REALLY? We all only eat ½ of our food why it is OK we have eaten here before and it was better WHAT Happened? Terrible service and 1 free dinner because they cannot control their staff?? Food is just mediocre and they were not so busy that there was an excuse for this type of service. Surf Diner Management and or Owners need to FIRE whoever they have managing their restaurant if it is them then they get a big fat F- for Service all around. I would have walked out but because my Father in-law was treating his son to what he thought was a nice dinner we stayed for his sake total bill $88.10 and did not leave until almost 10 pm I wanted to pull my hair out!!! Worse service around in the area OK Food Poor Service! We should have stayed bought fish from Herrelson’s Seafood Market and had a better meal and experience! Thanks for Ripping us off Surf Diner Would not recommend you to anyone and would say go away spend your money somewhere else until their issues...

Poor service, food basic. Sat outside 12:30pm on a Friday. Many tables open. The sun was getting too hot for two of children so we asked waitress if they could sit at next table over to get shade. She said okay. Ten mins later the owner (or manager?) came out and TOLD them they cannot sit there because there's a line of people coming for the "lunch crowd". VERY rude. There was no line... and at 12:45 this IS the lunch crowd. I'm a business owner and I respect that businesses need to make money and a restaurant needs tables... but at that time, more than half of the tables were empty. We waited for nearly an hour for two chicken sandwiches, fish sticks, soup and salad. The food was okay.... but not worth the wait or money. $75.00, and we had two sodas, lemonade and water. We stay in Surfside Beach for a month every Summer and we'll make sure we never tie up the line or tables again. Our apologies. (Plenty of other places to choose from... such as River City Cafe right next door). By the way... by the time we finally left, there still were fewer than half the tables in use and no sign of a lunch crowd. Bummer... good...

The food was great. Our waitress was awesome and our food came quickly but watch you bill folks....they are very deceiving. We ordered the pancake and meat meal and asked if we could have pecans...well we got everything we asked for but the pancake and meat meal was 8.99 we got the bill and they charged us 12.98 so that's 8.99 for the pancake and meat and $4 for a topping that they tell you additional toppings are.50 cents...completely ridiculous so they got us for $4 on each meal and when I spoke up they only gave us back $4 off one meal...now I'm all good with paying extra for a topping but $4 for one...insane...I'm sure we are not the only ones this has happened to so watch your bills....I hate being taken advantage of and that's exactly what they...
