Generally I really like the food here. BUT, I had such an odd and unpleasant experience the other night. This one just has to be shared...
On Thursday night at 9:30 I decided to head out for a late evening meal, and I pulled into the drive-thru at 9:35 (knowing they close at 10, but figuring that was plenty of time). There were 2-3 cars ahead of me in line, and one pulled up behind me. The intercom wasn't working, so there was a sign that said to pull up to the window.
After a few minutes we had moved up a bit, and there was just one truck at the window, and then me. We sat there for a full 15 minutes. I figured they were completing the truck's order before moving on, eventhough they normally have you pull forward. Finally, the truck went on, and I pulled up to the window.
The girl working there was leaning out the window and just looked at me when I pulled up. It was about 9:50 at that point, so I figured I was still good to order. No mention of how long the wait had already been. She just looked at me, so I gave her my order. They were out of milkshakes, but no big deal. She put the number on my door and said to drive around. I did.
The truck was around the corner, waiting as well! I don't know why they were at the window for literally 15 minutes and still didn't get their food...but okay.
Ten o'clock arrives, and goes... I'm getting pretty irritated since I pulled into the drive-thru at just past 9:30.
Finally, one of the workers comes out with a bag- walks past the truck and gives it to me. Again, no apology about the wait. I realized my fries are missing, so I called her back. She took the bag and then said, "There aren't supposed to be fries in here."
...Well I ORDERED them, so um yes there should be. I showed her on the receipt where it said "basket" and she said she'd come back.
I'm already in disbelief at this point, but then she comes back out with a bag, gives it to the truck, and starts walking toward me empty-handed.
"Yeah, so, our fryers are closed," she says.
I'm just shocked. "Look I got here half an hour ago, and I paid for my food, and now you're telling me that I can't have it?"
I guess she just expected me to accept this and leave? It takes a lot to get me riled, but I said, "Listen you have to do something for me. I paid for my food, so I either need a refund or a free meal coupon to come back another time or something!"
She let me know that I'd have to speak with a manager about that, so I asked her if there was a manager there. She said oh yes, there's always a manager. So I started to turn off my car, so I could go inside to talk to someone.
AT WHICH POINT SHE INFORMS ME THAT THE DOORS ARE LOCKED.
I just stared. "How are YOU getting back inside?!"
"Oh, I go through the back."
Just unreal. So I pulled through the drive-thru and waved at the guy at the register to open the window. I let him know that I hadn't received my full order despite ordering well before closing time and paying for it, and I needed a refund or something. He looked at my receipt and wanted to know who had talked to me. Finally he went and got some fries and brought them to me.
I'm not a jerk, nor much of a complainer, nor do I try to get free stuff from places. But I was just totally shocked by how this all went down. They probably should have comped the meal just on the wait time alone, nevermind all the trouble I went through just to get the food I paid for!
Culver's, I want to keep eating your delicious food. But for the love of all things holy, get your night staff freaking together! Still...
Read moreLet me just start by saying, this is our happy place, and Culver’s made sure of it.
My family and I stopped in for a classic Midwest treat and went all in with the Deluxe ButterBurger (hold the tomato, add grilled onions), a side of their famous Wisconsin Cheese Curds, and a tall cup of their legendary root beer. First impression? It looked and smelled exactly like comfort food should—fresh, hot, and made with care.
The Deluxe Burger was on point. The toasted bun was soft and warm, holding together a juicy, seared-to-perfection beef patty with melted cheddar, crisp lettuce, pickles, mayo, and those delicious grilled onions. Every bite was a perfect mix of savory, melty, and crunchy. It has that signature Culver’s flavor that tastes like a homemade meal but even better, especially when you are hungry and want something quick without it feeling like fast food.
Now the cheese curds—wow. These golden nuggets of gooey, melty cheese are the ultimate side. Lightly breaded and fried just right, they are salty, satisfying, and totally addictive. We could honestly eat a whole tray of them on their own.
And the root beer? Ice-cold, rich, and smooth with just the right amount of sweetness. It is easily one of the best root beers we have had at any restaurant and goes perfectly with everything on the tray.
There is plenty of indoor seating, but when the weather is nice, we love sitting outside on the patio. The employees are awesome and will even bring the food out to us, which makes it feel even more relaxed and enjoyable.
You can’t go wrong with any of their desserts either. Their frozen custard is amazing, especially if you grab the flavor of the day. It is the perfect way to end the meal.
That big cup saying “This is me in my happy place” could not be more accurate. The food, the friendly service, and the welcoming atmosphere made the whole experience feel like a mini getaway for our family.
If your family is craving real flavor made fresh, Culver’s is the spot. Do not skip the curds, the grilled onions, the root beer, or the...
Read moreI have been a customer of this culvers locations for the past 10 years, I used to visit about 4 times a week but now I visit only about 4 times a month because of the high prices. I love culvers food very much and try and use coupons whenever I can. My daughter found a coupon in a drawer from a few years back from a kids meal for a free scoop of ice cream. I used this opportunity to visit my local culvers but was very disappointed with the lack of respect I was giving and the rudeness shown. Every time I've visited this culvers I had a 5-star experience, except today was a 1 star. I went up to get the free scoop of ice cream which I requested chocolate with fudge and Oreos, the man simply said "NO" in a very rude tone and preceded to tell me I could only get 1 topping. I was disappointed at this but decided that chocolate with Oreos would be fine. they went to get my ice cream and only put 1 oreo crump on top I mean seriously? They refused to give me more so I guess I had to live with it. My daughter went to order a side of cookie dough, that cost 55 cents fair enough. She got the cookie dough and said it tasted funny but before she could ask, the manager harassed her telling her that that's the way it is and it was to bad. The manager also accused her of stealing because that's the only thing she had purchased. Overall I had a horrible experience and will not be returning until something is done about this awful service. I was proceeding to leave until the manager pressured me into buying french fries that I didn't want because I had only spent 55 cents. awful experience, please...
