I was in line, waiting to place my order athe North Progress Avenue location on 3/15/24. The man in front of me, was waiting to pay for his order. He had ordered one of the cheapest 6" subs on the menu. In his hand, he held some cash. The older woman who waited on this man, spoke broken English. She rudely instructed the man to put money in the "box" and would not accept his payment for his sandwich, until he did so. The patron stood there looking at her, I could tell he was shocked by his expression, he was shaking his head yes, because she rudely asked him...if he understood her. The man still had not placed money in the tip box. She said "I made your sandwich...you put money in the box". I spoke up and asked this very RUDE individual, are you not going to accept his payment, unless he tips you? She looked at me and again stated..."I made his sandwich, he put money in box". At this point, I told the woman...that's just rude ma'am...and walked out...took my business elsewhere. I really felt for this man...it takes seconds to show kindness to somebody and seconds to make somebody feel like they are worthless. Leaving a tip is a CHOICE, based on services rendered, especially for takeout. What happens, if somebody does not have extra money for a tip?I understand waitresses and waiters, rely on tips and I personally always leave a tip, if I walk into an establishment. But what happened yesterday, was totally unprofessional!! Is it the policy of this Subway, to now...not accept payment, unless you tip? The North Progress Avenue location has always been my favorite subway, based on proximity to my home. After what I witnessed yesterday, I will never order from...
Read moreI liked this place and would eat here often because of how close it is to where I live. I always ordered online so I could just walk in, grab it and leave. Today, I ordered on the app, same way I always do. I’m waiting inside for a little while, and eventually the man I usually see (assuming he’s the owner) asks me if I’m waiting on something. I explain my online order. He tells me he didn’t get an order and that I must’ve ordered from a different location. I order from this place pretty much everyday. Definitely not the wrong place. I say, “this is Paxton Church Rd, right?” because that’s the address attached to my order. I show him my phone, with my order and the address and he just gets flustered and dismissive, still saying he didn’t receive my order, must’ve ordered from the wrong place and to order again. I don’t know if there’s a button they press on their end to confirm orders, but my screen even had it on the “building” part, as in they’re in the process of building my sandwich. I’m standing there wondering if I’ll get my money back for my first order if I reorder. I was mid sentence talking to him, and he just waved me off and walked away and refused to acknowledge me after that so I left. I understand technology messes up, and would’ve totally reordered and been fine. Just writing this review because of the interaction I had. Not to mention, the woman also usually working there has had an attitude on the rare occasions I wouldn’t order on the app and go through the line....
