Being from Idaho, one of my favorite trips to share when coming back with my children is the Swan Valley square ice cream run. This time, we decided to get a quick bite to eat before enjoying our frozen treat. We walked in looking to place a to-go order and our children wore their masks. We are both vaccinated, our children are not; so they usually mask up in crowded public settings. They are used to (and even comfortable with) being the only ones in masks, especially since they are aware that others have different opinions about vaccines and masks. So we encourage individual accountability, and teach our children about different opinions in the world so they can make their own informed decisions. While placing my order, the lady at the griddle made a comment I didn't hear but my wife did, telling our children if they wanted to wear their masks they needed to go outside. As the paying patron, I wasn't kicked out, only my children (who received a good lesson about the power of ignorance). After finding out what was said, I cancelled our order, so I don't know how the food tastes, but I am utterly dismayed by the lack of hospitality and outright ridiculousness of this action. They couldn't know why our children were wearing masks, if they were at risk or just risk averse. We didn't ask anyone to stand back, wear masks, or change what they were doing. We just wanted to get some lunch and eat outside. Instead, the Angus Cafe lumped our children into a political ideology where one shouldn't exist. Without question, it is their establishment and within their right to refuse service over what seems to be their political opinions. At least post a sign so patrons know beforehand what to expect, "freedom to be yourself as long as it doesn't look...
Read moreI love this place, it’s classic diner food and it always tastes amazing. I will agree with some that the price is ummmm well on the high side BUT it’s a tourist area things are always high priced. As for the building it’s old and needs some love but that doesn’t stop the fact that people pack this place for breakfast or dinner. The owners are loving and kind and always friendly the staff makes your laugh and you feel like you are eating with family. Also don’t trust snotty tourists leaving reviews on google about local stops you can always tell the type who whine and moan about stupid things that don’t matter. ALWAYS ASK A LOCAL WHERE TO GO EAT THEY WILL GIVE YOU AN...
Read moreWhen there are no other food joints for like 45 miles, you don't expect much of a little place along the highway that has no real competition to drive up its standards or quality. With that said, its pretty good. Definitely classic diner menu, but a few diverse choices, and made to order and flexible with whatever sides you want even if not stated on menu, and the people are just super genuine and nice. You can tell them live right here in this beautiful little valley and come into work here each day, because everyone walking in knows them. Thanks for the hospitality and warm smiles each time...
