The Wings Station — Restaurant in Swanton

One of the worst experiences with customer service I have ever had, and this was over the phone!

let me preface. I am originally from Swanton and was really wanting food from this Wing Station as it was a place I loved to eat at while I was in high school. I had not had food from this place in years.

I decided I would call in an order for my family while I was in town visiting. Typically, I would dine in but I am very cautious as I recently had a baby and slightly fearful of COVID. I had an order ready that was easily over $100. I immediately sensed a foul mood from the person working there when she picked up the phone. I am very supportive of any small buissness and wanted to give the benefit of the doubt.

The following is the conversation I had with the employee who was female and had a southern accent.

Employee (E)- Wing Station Swanton Me (M)- I would like to place a pick up order E- What do you want (very condescending tone) M- could I get a original gyro platter with extra feta and (cut off by employee) E- the original gyro does not come with feta M- oh okay, can I add feta and then add extra feta E- what sides, what salad (very rude and worse condescending tone) M- could I get fries E- what salad M- oh I get a salad too? E- Greek or house (raised voice and even more of a condescending tone) M- please do not be rude E- I'm not being rude. Usually when someone orders a platter they realize it comes with salad (very sarcastically) M- Okay, I am going to take my buisness elsewhere... E- (hangs up)

I was mid sentence when she hung up the phone.

Never in my life have I felt more humiliated by a waitress in a restaurant. I made a mistake while reading the menu. I read what comes with wraps rather than "sandwhiches" Yes, that was my mistake, but I should not be made a fool of and feel this disrespected as a person.

I will suggest that my friends and family who live in Swanton not to eat at this restaurant any longer and encourage they do the same until they know this employee is now longer working in the establishment.

I’d never tried this place until recently (1/26 and 2/8). Both times were takeout orders. The wings were good, and the extra-large were substantial. The salads were good too, though nothing particularly special.

My only real complaint is that both times I was missing an item and didn’t notice until I got home. First time I didn’t get any pita bread with my fattoush salad. Second time I was missing the celery that was supposed to come with my wing order. Two small but irritating lacks. Irritating especially because this was after I had tipped them. ...

The food was amazing as always. The service was awesome! They were advertised to be open until 8 pm and we were done eating well before 730. As a matter of fact, we were sitting enjoying a beer and good convo when a gentleman who was acquainted with our waitress rudely yelled "we are closed ya'll". When we walked up to pay, he made it obvious he was taking to us. I am not sure if the owner knew about this situation or not, but the waitress did and this was out of line and extremely rude.
