Gather round ye children it is high time you heard about a hero named Hobnobbers and the story of how they saved Christmas. Before I get in to this story, I have to say this place has great pizza for sycamore. And probably the best wings in the area. Try the teriyaki. The service is impeccable whether you sit at the bar or in the restaurant area. And they have a service window for picking up from your car. The smiles behind the bar are always friendly and there's charge ports at the bar for your phone. But the real story here is the time Hobnobbers saved an unsavable Christmas. One of the first times I hosted a family holiday at my home and our family tradition is to make homemade pizzas. I picked up all the ingredients but I didn't like the sausage so I was going to stop at Ream's or Caputo's and forgot. You would have thought I ruined Christmas based on my family's reaction and nearly did. I felt terrible, but Google maps told me Jewel was open on Christmas Eve and the holiday was saved. Google however lied and Jewel was closed, Christmas was ruined again. My nephew and I were on a quest from God to retrieve this sausage and save Christmas and looking into his doe eyes I didn't want to let him or my family down. Luckily Casey's kiddie corner from Jewel was lit up. They sell pizzas and have sausage, Christmas is saved. Cockily I strode into Casey's and got the attention of a clearly annoyed pizza maker. "Do you want to help me save Christmas?" I asked as I explained my predicament.. "I don't have time for this" was her reply. Again I pleaded my case and was met with a no. The thought had never ever occurred to me. As I stood there in disbelief, I order a large extra sausage pizza par cooked, she said they couldn't do that. I said a calzone then. Casey's was not interested in helping me save Christmas. Defeated and in a very dark place I slumped back to the Jeep. Defeated and down, no low. But what does this have to do with Hobnobbers? My blessed little nephew with his doe eyes was not destroyed by the current events and still held on to his Christmas spirit. He egged me on and pleaded with me not to give up. "What about that place" he beckoned across the street to a corner bar Hobnobbers. I didn't want to believe again and couldn't stand another tragedy in person, so I said I'll call over there first. The owner picked up the phone and when I asked him if he wanted to save Christmas, he replied "hell yeah let's do it, let's save Christmas" His words and spirit were contagious. The Christmas spirit flooded my bent but but broken spirit and dare I believe that Christmas was saved again. By now the calls from home were deafening asking where I was and what I was doing. I know this review is much longer than most and I appreciate your patience. As I arrived to Hobnobbers the owner grabbed us drinks and escorted us back to the kitchen. The kitchen was closed and the cooks gone and we searched through every cooler looking for the sausage without finding it. Christmas was ruined. As we were leaving once again defeated the owner came running out the kitchen with a go box filled with meat. Christmas was saved, we were in business and headed home victorious. About halfway home we get a call from the owner and he informed us he actually sent us with hamburger but found the sausage and we should come back. My mom was trying to leave my house to go get McDonald's, there was no way Christmas was not ruined. We returned to Hobnobbers and were welcomed with more drinks and friendly smiles and a go box with what was the best sausage we've ever put on a pizza. Thank you Hobnobbers for saving Christmas. Sorry for the long review. Just thought I'd tell you about the time hobnobbers...
Read moreEdit: Visited Hobnobbers today and they really did it right. Service was great, McKayla had it very together. Ordered a crispy chicken sandwich, "dunked" in wing sauce, made it a basket with the Cajun fried potato salad. Fried potato salad is not as good as Fatty's, which is who they are copying, but it is still tasty. We got a half size Italian beef roll. I would put it on par with Pizza Pro's and better than Dough Bros. Flavor was great, dough was crispy and flaky and buttery. Didn't have that greasy, crispy pan-pizza-like edge, but it was quite tasty. The garlic flavor shone through, and there was a lot of mozzarella. The giardinera was HOT but flavorful and good. All the condiments were amazing, which is where a lot of other places falter. Their ranch, bleu cheese, and au jus dip exceeded that from any other Pizza place in recent memory. We did not get the marinara / pizza sauce, so I can't comment, but all others listed may be the best in the area. Got two Mind Haze beers and a Blue Moon. Blue Moon keg had to be changed which essentially resulted in a free 2/3 Blue Moon. All in all a wonderful meal and excellent service, everything was right even with the keg running out. Things may have been just slightly slow, as we were the only ones eating, though take-out was steady at the window. We were never waiting long and everything was EXACTLY as we ordered, which is rare nowadays. We don't get there very often but I always enjoy when we do. I bet the salads are good since their dressings are all top-notch, something to try next time - Keep on nobbin'!
Previous: Have been a few times now. A spacious and convenient place to meet, always seems busy with families and regulars when we come in. Sports are on without sound, music is at a reasonable volume, conversation is easily had, lots of seating options. Food is decent, some things seem better than others. Standouts from the menu include Hobnobber Tots, garlic parmesan fries and chicken tender sliders. Pizza burger was interesting, seemed like it was meatball meat? Nice drink selection...
Read moreBeen a customer of theirs for three years. I told Mike the owner that I would never ever order from them again after what happened there tonight. I'm so steaming mad about how poorly things were handled. I was at work when I called at 5:40 p.m. to order a large pizza for delivery. Mind you, I work across the street from them but couldn't leave work to pick it up. I was told delivery would be 45 minutes to an hour. 6:45 rolls around (an hour later) and no delivery and so I called only to be told that the driver "had our order and it was still out for delivery and we should be getting it "in a few minutes" which I knew she was just talking out of her as- They get these young girls that work for him that cant even take an order properly. I have had to tell the girl on the phone, "listen carefully to what I said" because a simple request for half mushroom and extra cheese pizza is apparently too difficult for them. She repeats back to me, "ok, so you want half extra cheese and the whole pizza with mushrooms? " I swear that's how most of my orders go with them clearly not able to take a simple order. So getting back to our order of tonight: I call at 7:10 p.m. (still looking for our pizza and by this time I am ready to clock out for the night and still no pizza in sight. I demand to talk to the owner by this time because it's going on 1 and 1/2 hours and I AM across the street !!! No apologies from Mike. Only says to me, "I dont know what happened to your order." That's it ! Although they took my credit card information, he just doesn't "know where our pizza is" and with no offer to fix the problem. I'm clearly never going to do business with them. Their quality of food has gone down and service is terrible. There are too many other great restaurants out there that one can go to for great pizza. Dont waste your time with this...
