It's loud, it's crowded, the service is eh and the food is alright.
PJ's is the gathering folk who want a meal and a drink, either for lunch or the after work crew. It tries for that bar setup with a gaming nook in the back, but the gaming nook is a huge detraction that obviously wasn't planned for as it's just plunked in at the back, obviously where the wall was and disturbing what was a great table layout.
This place is LOUD. It could use sound dampening, especially near the bar area. It's hard to have conversations with your party, even when it's not a busy night, because it's just so LOUD.
It's crowded. The gaming setup is a huge detraction from the bar area, which disturbed the table layout and pushed them closer together. I have no idea how servers shimmy through to serve the two back tables by there; they risk running into the other table, the gaming setup, or the digital jukebox when they go to serve.
The food is okay. I had the black bean burger with side salad and it was...okay. I feel like a lot more effort could be put into the food, and my party felt the same way. Quickly slapped together sandwiches, fries that were fried in oil that by both smell and taste needed to be replaced, there is something lacking that there wasn't on my last visit.
Service is....eh. They try, but it doesn't seem to have the guest focus. It's "what can I get for you", delivery, "are you alright?", check. I don't expect servers to look 100% happy 100% of the time (they are human) but you can tell when a shift is understaffed and overburdened, and they clearly were - and there is no reason why several of them had to stand in line to ring up at the bar's POS system for drinks!!!
It was an...
Read moreI went into the bar this weekend with a few of my girlfriends. When we walked in there were at least 30 people at the bar. We walked up to the bar to try and order drinks and one of the male, middle aged bartenders told us we could not sit inside we had to sit outside. We were told that the other people were in there finishing their drinks because of the cold weather and that's why they were in there. It was freezing cold outside that night but we went to a table outside anyway to order a drink thinking they would let us finish our drinks inside once we ordered them just like they were letting the other people do. When our drinks came out we asked our waitress if we could go inside and finish our drinks. She asked that same bartender that we did and he said not tonight. We were literally the only people at pjs that night that had to sit outside while 30 plus people were allowed to sit in the bar as long as they wanted. We stayed awhile after we were told no to the inside to see how long they let the others stay and everyone stayed no one left. Also, I went to the bathroom inside and saw that same bartender serving to the people inside when he originally said he wouldnt serve. I have never felt more discriminated against and disgusted with a place. I will be making others aware of the horrible service that is presented here. Super...
Read morePJs has separate bar and restaurant areas, which is appreciated. Some nights it can be quite busy, but we've never had any sort of wait time. There is an additional deck outside for seating and live music, which is always a plus to me!
They do monthly burgers that vary in quality, but that's purely due to my personal preferences and tastes, and not a detriment or shot at the cooks or restaurant.
This could almost be considered a sports bar, but the food is too good to only label it as a bar. Pork tenderloin sandwiches are great, and the monthly burgers can sometimes be really, really good (fiesta burger I'm looking at you!)
French fries are pretty much always on-point which is always a great thing, especially when server with almost every meal.
100% recommend stopping in at least twice. Once during the week, and once on the weekend. See if it's for you!
The food and drinks variety should accommodate any tastes, so your main sticking point will be how open you are to it being rather busy.
And finally, the service is good here! Even the busboys (buspersons?) Will swing by to help clear your table so things aren't in your way.
Give PJs a shot, I doubt you will be...
