Sam's Pizza Sycamore — Restaurant in Sycamore Township

A good friend of mine at the school we teach at brags about Sam’s Pizza place every day I’m with him. How awesome the pizza is, a local family owns it with the BEST chicken wings. Well I live 55 minutes away from Sam’s. So to shut him up I called his bluff, last night my wife and I ordered chicken wings with a large thin pizza. I saw some of the other reviews mentioned that they tend to run late but not on our order. They quoted me 1.25 hours for the food order to be ready. When I pulled in a little over an hour later our order was ready. I brought a warming bag and it worked well on the long drive home-it kept everything hot. The tomato sauce tasted home made with a hint of sweetness, the vegetables were cooked perfectly with a slight crunch and the Canadian bacon was delicious. The pizza crust had a slight crunch but not too soft, excessively baked, or too doughy but it was just right. The chicken wings were fall off the bone-out of this world. Fully cooked and the sauce had just the right amount of heat to wake up your taste buds. My apologies, my wife and I never tried their ranch sauce since we fell in love with the bar be que sauce. Usually my wife and I order a large pizza for leftovers on the following day but we finished both the pizza and the wings that night. We couldn’t stop eating- it was soooo good! Much like the previous review our first time experience with Sams was incredibly disappointing. To boast to be one of the best and oldest places in Sycamore was a complete let down. We were told 1hr 20 mins, which is understandable for a weekend evening and no big deal, we were happy to wait. However the pizza showed up over 2 hours late and the underside was completely burnt. When we called to talk with a manager we spoke with someone who was completely unapologetic and made excuses - There was a festival in town, and the World Series is on, stood by the hour-twenty timeline given and ignored the fact that our pizza was burnt and incredibly much later than told. The complaints seemed totally unregistered with him. Sad that there seemed to be no apologies and no effort to try to make it right. With such poor customer service , management of the orders coming in and disregard of our experience I would give this less than one star if I could. Trying to call you guys to order a pizza and can't get through!! I have 3 separate numbers, most likely because you are so busy because you have THE BEST PIZZA KNOWN TO THE CHICAGO LAND AREA and it's very frustrating!! All 3 lines say you are unavailable??? The number listed online says you can't be reached?? I don't want or like giving bad reviews but if I can't get a hold of you, and there isn't a hold/wait option, I'm kind of left with no other choice. Hands down you guys have the best pizza! Yes you sometimes have to wait an hour and a half sometimes 2 hours, but it's well worth the wait. The care you put into your pizza's, the flavor, the fresh ingredients, that CAN'T BE BEAT!!
