I went in to pick up an order that had alcohol. The lady approached me with my order at pick up and said she needed to see my ID. At first I thought I had my wallet in my car but realized I left it at home with being so close and expecting to just grab/go. She said āshe could follow me to my carā to see it, which was super weird. I said, actually I left it at home but gave my date of birth thinking that would suffice. She said they needed the ID, which I understand. I said, I guess youāll have to take it off then. She said they would do it. I said, can you take it off my receipt? (I said this a couple times) She kept saying she would but was still standing there awkwardly. I took that as I was to leave, so I did. I called in later to check if they refunded me for the alcohol since I didnāt see it come through. The lady never did it and they eventually sent me a receipt with it taken off.
I get needing to see an ID, but I havenāt had to do this for any pick up orders during COVID, and if I did there was something online telling you to make sure you bring it when picking it up. No where on Beckās website does it say to show ID when you go in. The whole thing was awkward and gave me bad taste, especially since I was trying to just give back to a local restaurant I liked. I wonāt be returning.
UPDATE I emailed Brian and he responded to me quickly. He handled this really well and it makes me respect Beckās so much. You can tell this restaurant truly cares about customers and wants them to have the best experience possible. His response was enough to satisfy me, but to top it off he sent me a $25 gift card. You just donāt see this kind of compassion anymore. I really appreciate what was done to rectify this and look forward to my next visit ā next time Iāll bring my ID when I pick up...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have never written a negative review of a restaurant in my life, however, I felt the need to share the horrible treatment and experience I had here last night. We came with my mom and my six year old. It was crowded as it usually is because, I honestly really like the food there and itās good. We were told it would be about a 45 minute wait. We decided to stay since we knew there would be a wait at many places. Over an hour later, we checked on the time because my daughter was starting to get really hungry. We were told there were still six tables in front of us, to which we replied we were told the wait would be forty five minutes. The hostess giggled and said āI guess I'm really bad at estimating time." We continued to wait over another forty five minutes before being called. Each time someone went over they were told "it's about 45 minutes." As we gave in our buzzer my mom said in a firm but calm voice, I just want you to know my six year old grand daughter has been very patient through this whole time, but we have waited over twice the time we were estimated. You really need to be sure to do a better job of estimating the wait times. After we sat, the manager came over and in front of the whole restaurant and proceeded to yell at us that we had been rude and that we had made the hostess cry by yelling at her. I was so upset because in no way had anyone raised their voice or yelled we had just stated that we were disappointed in waiting over an hour and a half on a 45 minute wait. He was so rude and unapologetic and upset all of us including my six year old. She said āthat man was yelling in my ear.ā We proceeded to leave the restaurant without eating and I will never return, which is a shame because I have only ever enjoyed myself...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy husband and I go to Beck's so often that I finally realized I needed to write a review. As a resident of Sykesville, MD, this is our go to restaurant. The only time we are ever disappointed is when we have to wait on a Friday or Saturday evening to be seated. But, that only further illustrates how popular this restaurant is and it is popular for a reason! Prices are reasonable and the food is great. I love the seasonal menus and tapas too! I usually get the filet, which they have changed to an 8 oz bacon wrapped piece of perfection. I've also had the Philly steak sandwich (plan to bring home leftovers because the thing is overflowing with chopped steak), the hot turkey sandwich (great comfort food) and the seasonal Fettuccine Alfredo (I am certain that this is by far the best I've had and Beck's isn't even a pasta place). My husband has had their seasonal pork items. He enjoyed them, but regretted not ordering the crab cakes because that's his favorite dish; if you want crab cakes without all the filler that are as big as your fist, you must try them! He's also had the voodoo pasta (very spicy) and the Reuben sandwich. We bring our parents to Beck's, we bring our friends to Beck's, and we bring our out-of-town friends and family to Beck's when they visit. I recommend that you...
