🥘Who said Tacoma has no good eats? 30 spots enough?

Wife and I have lived in Tacoma for several years but have never stumbled across or heard about Primo Grill. Decided to try something new and came across this restaurant by a Google recommendation when doing a search for Tacomas best restaurants. Menu items looked great the 4 star overall Yelp review had us wondering why we havent heard of this place before. We ordered the Half Chicken and the Tagliatelle w/ Pork Ragu for takeout. I must say we were disappointed to find small portion sizes and less than appetizing presentation of the food (i realize takeout comes in boxes and is much harder to make it look good vs a plate but being that we eat out multiple times per week we are used to a much more appealing and satisfying takeout experience). The chicken came served on top of 3 pieces of tiny roasted potato and 3 pieces of roasted broccoli next to a massive pile of Aioli which was slopped onto the box next to the food and not in its own container. The chicken lacked flavor and the skin was soft and stretchy and lacked any crisp. The portion was small-medium for a $27 dollar entree and left for more to be desired. The tagliatelle had more flavor but also came in a small portion size that left my small framed wife hungry and dissatisfied. Overall im surprised to see a 4 star Yelp rating based on our takeout experience. The restaurant did seem nice on the inside so I cant comment on the service but the food is underwhelming and lacks a fine touch that a premium price entree deserves. Meal portions are small-medium at best. I would choose Cooks Tavern, Wooden City , Indo Asian Eatery any day of the week for better quality and more appetizing meals at a similar price point.

Great restaurant with good food and service. Staff was very accommodating though we did not have a reservation on a Friday night. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection. Loved the lamb shanks - this is a must have. Halibut was also very tasty. One feedback on the roasted calamari is the spices were a bit overpowering, which did not do justice to the amazing sauce with garlic and parsley. The dessert menu is excellent and well-thought in conjunction with the rest of the menu. The bourbon chocolate cake is with rich dark chocolate - I absolutely loved the sticky texture and how the whipped cream complemented it. I suggest you get the cream on the side to adjust the balance to your liking. One other thing I recomend is the house limoncello with the bourbon chocolate cake as it helps to ease the intense (but very pleasant) chocolate flavor with every two to three spoons. The culinary experience was very satisfactory. In terms of price, be prepared to pay about $80 per person including the tip. I think this price is worth it especially on special occasions. By the way, I really appreciated the disclosure at the bottom of the menu with regular font size (rather than the small print most restaurants do) regarding the 20% tip policy. Furthermore, the communication that 70% of the tip going directly to our server while the remaining 30% going to their welfare expenses was transparecy at its best. I think other restaurants should take Primo as a role model in terms of how tipping policy works and should be communicated to the patrons. Well done Primo! I hope to see you soon & thank you for a wonderful evening 🙂

Always good, this establishment is now great! Energized from their move from 601 S Pine to 2701 6th Avenue, this is the place to dine - the finest Farm to Table (most everything is locally sourced) Mediterranean style cuisine you'll find. Their appetizers are over the top delicious (My favorite is the Chickpea frites with harissa and yogurt - with the Bruschetta, heirloom tomatoes, with basil as a close second). The house made Cesar salad is flavorful and filling (so don't eat to much as you'll want to save room for the main entrée). I don't get the pizza too often, but when I do, I can't get enough. Their pasta is made in house, and the robust flavor is a testament to its freshness. I personally prefer to go with their lamb chops or pork chops. The Salmon is always a good bet as well. The menu adjusts slightly through the seasons, which is fun and enjoyable too, because there is always something new to choose from. There are many choices for dessert, however, usually by this time I'm pretty full. The portion sizes are almost perfect, so you won't have to worry about going hungry, nor taking a bunch of left over's home. But this makes it difficult to chose a dessert. When I do go for it, I personally prefer the crème brulée, however, their chocolate treats and bread pudding are as equally tempting. I am both a Red Wine and Cocktail guy, depending upon my mood. They have a fair selections of Wine to choose from, and you can bring in your own bottle (If I remember correctly, but will be charged a modest corking fee if you do this). For me it is always a struggle to choose between the Old Vine Renwood Zinfandel or the Argentinian Malbec. If I'm in the mood for a cocktail, then its got to be the Black Manhattan or the Blood Orange Cosmo (Not on the menu, but you have to request this if it is available)! I enjoy the atmosphere; the staff are attentive, professional, friendly and I look forward to seeing them (they have great personalities and memories). Whether a quick happy hour treat, special date night, or bringing a group of friends (recommend you get reservations if you have more than 4 to ensure availability - as this place is POPULAR) or business associates, if you want to relax, dine on great food or indulge in your favorite beverage or dessert, this place is where it is happening. If you haven't been here in a while, you need to return, and if you've never been here before, you are definitely missing out - come experience it for yourself. Clearly one of Tacoma's finest...
