Black Gold Brewing Company — Restaurant in Taft

I drove two hours out of my way to check this place out. I was going based on the hours that reflect on google. Upon arriving to the restaurant they had a sign on the door that said open Monday- Friday 7am-9am 1130am-130pm and 5pm-730pm. Lucky for me I arrived at 930am. Determined to try this place out I actually waited until 1130am. 1130am came and the restaurant was still closed. I saw people across the street that looked like locals so I asked if they knew weather the restaurant was even opening today. To my surprise they said, “The owner opens when ever he wants, so we couldn’t tell you weather he will even open today.” “He shows up randomly, he probably isn’t even opening at all this week since Thanksgiving is this week.” Mind you it was only Monday. We went in for lunch on Friday. It wasn’t very busy. The vibe was kind of just blah. There were 3 TVs none of them were on, no music. Right before we left they tuned the TV’s onto the news network. Not really what I’m looking to watch while trying to enjoy lunch at a brewery.

The waitress was very nice and made us feel welcome. I’m not a big beer drinker but they seem to have a good variety of their own brews on tap.

The menu had many options of sandwiches and Thai food. We ordered the pineapple shrimp and rice, the Pad Thai shrimp and a Rib Eye Sandwich. My friend and I almost walked out, ask about desserts on menu no desserts waitress said, ok how about a cup of coffee, no coffee, machine was broken, I thought this was a coffee house but we decided to stay and try the place and have to say the Dinner was fantastic, we had the cheese and spinach ravoli. with salad, bread would have been good but not included. I Went to the theater next door and bought two cups of their coffee and brought back to enjoy with our dinner.
