Taft Fox Theatre is a true gem for movie buffs in the area. While it may not have all the bells and whistles of a big city multiplex, it more than makes up for it with its charm, affordability, and commitment to showing new releases.
One of the things I love most about the Fox Theatre is its ticket prices. Unlike many theaters that charge exorbitant amounts for tickets and snacks; the Fox keeps its prices incredibly reasonable. They also offer matinee discounts, making it a great option for families and budget-minded moviegoers. It's refreshing to see a theater that prioritizes accessibility without sacrificing the quality of the movie experience.
Stepping into the Fox Theatre feels like stepping back in time. Vintage decor and intimate setting create a cozy and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for enjoying a film. While the seating might not be the most luxurious, it's comfortable enough for a couple of hours, and the overall ambiance more than makes up for it.
Despite its small-town location, the Fox Theatre consistently screens the latest Hollywood blockbusters, ensuring that you don't have to miss out on any of the big releases. They also occasionally showcase independent films and classics, catering to a diverse range of cinematic tastes.
Staff at the Fox Theatre are always friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall positive experience. It's located in downtown Taft, making it easily accessible for locals and visitors alike.
If you're looking for an affordable and enjoyable movie experience in Taft, the Fox Theatre is an excellent choice. With its fair prices, matinee discounts, charming atmosphere, and commitment to new releases, it's a true hidden gem that deserves more recognition....

I’m giving one star because that’s the lowest option because I would give negative if I could. My wife and I drove a 1 1/2 hour drive to Taft from our home (one way) because it’s the closest town to us living in the mountains. We came to the movies for a date night (which we hardly ever have the time to do). The cashier tried to process our payment for the tickets, but their card payment processing system wasn’t working. So she texted her manager for some time trying to figure out to only tell us that they couldn’t fix it. We didn’t have cash on us, and we didn’t have the time to go to the closest ATM, because the movie was already starting by that time. So we offered to leave our IDs and credit cards with her as a guarantee that we will go to the ATM after the movie and bring cash. She texted her manager again, and said she was simply told “No”. That was it. They didn’t even try to make up for the fact that their POS terminal was not working. We had been waiting for that movie to come out for so long and were excited about our movie night, but it was totally ruined. Beyond...
Read moreThe city of Taft and the owners of the Fox Theatre have worked hard to preserve and keep this movie house open for its citizens. No, it isn't a large multiplex but it has 3 screens showing first run movies and all the goodies you'd find at any concession stand. Prices are kept low so that more can enjoy going out for a movie. Many of the Art Deco features have been preserved throughout and to visit the bathrooms on the lower level gives you an idea of what it must have been like to really dress for the evening and to powder your nose in the ladies lounge. The Fox is on the main downtown street that is fully lighted and a pleasure to stroll along window shopping afterwards. There's a nice little cafe almost right next door with good food and a nice selection of beer. There are also several wonderful new shops within the same block that's sure to please and don't be surprised if someone you don't even know smiles or greets you. Disclaimer: I am not affiliated with the Fox in any way other than a patron who is proud of "our" theater and of all the pleasant people who work...
