TLDR: Do not move the man's cone!
Unfortunately, I did not get a chance to be a customer at this establishment, and I know that I will never be!
I am here only to report that my car was, just moments ago, blocked from leaving the parking lot by the owner of the restaurant. Supposedly, I was blocked as a punishment for parking in "his spot" in the customer parking lot.
He insisted it was "obviously" his parking spot due to him placing a cone there, which surprise! it wasn't there when I got there.
So naturally, I was accused of being a liar and that I had, in fact, moved his beloved cone that clearly marks this man's territory. No proof needed, because sometimes when you just know, you know. You know?
I definitely did not expect to run into this crappy situation after having a nice, relaxing time working remotely at Koma Cafe next door (I highly recommend). Which is one of the establishments sharing the customer parking lot.
When I was told once again that I shouldn't have moved his cone, and that I was "so lucky" he didn't decide to just continue blocking me from leaving, I finally snapped: "I did not move your cone, OK?!". Sorry for the language :(
My words seem to have really hurt the owner's feelings, so he ran back into the restaurant, refusing to let me leave from his property, the parking spot in the customer parking lot.
I was left to my own devices. "Should I call the police? Should I walk home and figure it out later?.... Aha!!!"
I realized that the restaurant has a camera in the parking lot. So I had one more chance to do something before calling the police (not something I wanted to do at all!). So I went in the restaurant and told him to check his cameras. So he could see that I DID NOT MOVE THE CONE! and maybe he could get some relief to learn who the true criminal was.
But alas! He decided not to check them, and finally set me free on my way.
Needless to say, the vibes of the place are totally off for me, and do not hope to see the parking lot...
Read moreMe and my friend decided to visit an African restaurant and came across this one! It was one of the best choices. Not only is the decor fantastic, but the guy who owns it was great to us. We ordered plantains, Banana leaf wrap tamale, and beef turnover for an appetizer. The turnover was soooo good. It came with a tomatoe based sauce that just added to the flavor. With me, a beef patty is all about the crust. The crust was flakey and delicious. The plantains were good as well. They were big and fried just rite. Our main dish was Benagin and Afra. The jollof rice was flavorful and had just the rite amount of kick. The chicken was tender and flavored to the bone. For the Afra dish, you get potatoe salad and couscous. The potatoe salad has a sweetness to it which I like and the couscous came with a sweet gravey. The chicken was grilled to perfection. This dish also comes with a side of spices sauce. And boy is it spicey...this is not for the weak...lol. Even if you never thought you'd try African food, this is definitely a place to go. The prices were very reasonable and I can't wait to go back when they are fully open. Right now they only have carry out, due to covid. He also has a lot of precautions that I see were taken, such as hand sanitizer on every table, the other tables looked very clean, and he has one area for pick up. Definitely check out this local restaurant to support our...
Read moreYou may be wondering why I am giving a 5-star rating when they messed up my order so badly, it had to be someone else’s order entirely. I ordered through UberEats.
As soon as I became aware my order was wrong, I called the restaurant to tell them what happened. The gentleman who took my call was polite and asked for my address and phone number. He said they didn’t have anyone available to deliver right then, but they would have someone bring me my correct order. Unfortunately, it would be between 1, maybe 2 hours. Since we did have food to eat, albeit the wrong food, I said OK. About 45 minutes later I received a call from the driver that they were outside with my food. I thanked the gentleman and asked if he was the person I spoke with on the phone. He said, no, that he was the owner, and that when he went to pick up his own food, they told him what happened so he delivered it himself. Now usually when you order from a third party delivery service, you may get your money back, but you’re not getting your food that day. So I really appreciated that.
My husband loved the Aku okra. Since I’m Nigerian, I can only acknowledge the jollof rice as being adequate (🔥🔥😋😋😉). The fish pie is FIRE. Do yourself a favor and order that as well. Also, although it was not my intention to eat the entire hibiscus layer cake in one sitting, I did, therefore I ride my Peloton 40 minutes today. I will be...
