I turned out Guthrie's fried chicken last night and I said it's fine product, I love that they had Coca-Cola products the prices were good and the staff were nice. But as chicken finger restaurants go They are probably the least seasoned version of that it's reminiscent of raising canes, As they don't really serve As a place for variety or even a large flavor profile but if you want real basic fried chicken this is definitely not a bad spot to try it. From what I've read they've been around since 65 so they predate zaxby's and raising canes which are probably their most direct competitors, As far as flavor zaxby's more seasoned and flavourful similar to Chick-fil-A and zaxby's definitely has the seasoned fries, All in all if you're the kind of person who doesn't like a lot of seasoning and just wants a wholesome piece of chicken the French fries were hot and plentiful they have a nice version of Cole slaughter the drinks were perfect maybe give the Guthrie's a try, As really there doesn't seem to be any other choice in the chicken finger game anyway but as I travel the South East I'm more familiar with their competitors than Guthrie however you gotta give credit to the people who I guess started the chicken finger trend. However I would say they are the most plain and least seasoned version of this that may be exactly what you're...

While in Tampa, was looking for a chicken place to pick up lunch for the work guys I was training. Found this spot that had very positive reviews. When I arrived there was 1 customer inside eating. The cashier was very awkward explaining the Special Guthrie sauce and noticed 2 younger guys in the back.
Ordered The Bucket which is 25 chicken fingers, a Box combo with a Diet Coke and an extra honey mustard I was charged $.46 cents for. The drink had so much ice there was barely any liquid in the cup. The wait wasn't to long for the food.
Got back to the job site everyone began eating I took a bite of a chicken finger and thought this is no way close to a 4.7 rating, it was very dry, bland and the French fries had a very strange taste.
The 2nd chicken finger I took a bite of and immediately spit it out due to seeing a hair in breading, it was cooked with the chicken.
Pulled it loose and it was a long black hair. As mentioned there were 2 guys working in the kitchen with no hair net.
The crew I was training noticed what I found and needless to say the lunch was a complete waste as it was thrown out. Absolutely disgusting.
This place needs some serious work on the hygiene of its workers. So a $50.48 meal went to waste due to bad hygiene practice. Would not recommend this...
Read moreWhen it comes to fried chicken tenders, fries and sweet tea my kids are all in. I wanted to check out the new Guthrie’s location in South Tampa and it didn’t take much to convince them to join me. Driving from Wesley Chapel to South Tampa was quite the hike but luckily the food and customer service was A-1.
My only previous experience of Guthrie’s was from a visit to Tallahassee where my brother in law took us on a late night run to grab some food one night. I wasn’t sure if it was the late night hunger cravings that made me think the food was bomb or that it was simply that good. Well my visit to the Tampa location confirmed that the food is indeed that good!
Let’s talk about the cool wall art outside of their building. Def worth taking a picture for your Instagram page. Inside is equally cool with the family history painted on the wall as well.
If you’re a southerner then you know sweet tea is king and their sweet tea does not disappoint. It’s brewed and has the right amount of sugar. The tenders are nice and juicy and the fries were hot and savory. I really liked it and so did my kids. Added bonus was the coleslaw and the buttery Texas toast.
If you give them a try tell them I sent you! - The...
