Love love love New World! This business has been a part of the Tampa community for 30 years for good reason. They have great music offerings from DJs, bands, and solo singers; really nice thin-crust pizzas, excellent pulled pork, and multiple vegetarian offerings; a variety of special lecture events such as Pints of Science, Ideas on Tap, Sips and Trips; plus fun games and competitions like Super Smash Brothers.
Their patio space is downright magical and features a stage, fountains, beautiful plants, and artwork created by one of the owners. Inside are mural, antiques, foosball, and several pinball games plus house board games. There's a second indoors space, the music hall, which hosts the larger concerts and events.
Their selection of European and craft beers is in the top 3 in Tampa, but they have stand-bys such as PBR that are affordably priced too.
My favorite pizza is the Zodiac, which has house-smoked chicken, mushrooms, and spinach...but I like to substitute pesto for the garlic oil sauce.
Back in the day, when New World was located in Ybor City, it was one of the few bars I would go as a single woman where I knew that I would be safe. It's a great place full of good people. Some people talk about having a "third place," somewhere you spend a lot of time that isn't work or home. New World is my third place. Maybe it will...
Read moreThis place is awesome!! This is where you want to see a concert, trust me! The management team here does not have a long set of rules, but shows their patrons a level of trust and therefore, the atmosphere is relaxed and easy. There's a large seating area outside where patrons can smoke, drink and mingle. The stage and floor areas are inside and smaller than most which is why it feels so awesome to see your favorite bands. You can stand virtually a couple of feel away and get an exceptional view (so, you can leave your spectacles at home 😅). The concert hall has a bar with great food available next door. There's another, smaller bar inside, so you have lots of options. There are a few large booths surrounding the main floor for those who wish to sit. The atmosphere is warm, welcoming and open-minded. There's plenty of freedom to enter and exit the show as needed. They don't check bags or insist you patron their bar and it makes you want to support them even more. This is honestly the best place I have ever been to see a concert. The management are so normal and inviting. They make you feel welcome. Bathrooms are kept clean. They offer all of the filtered water you want to drink to stay hydrated. I HIGHLY recommend this place to everyone!!! I saw Solar Fake here on 4/07/23 and it was the best time I can...
Read moreAs a newbie to the Tampa area it’s easy to fall into chain restaurants, foregoing what could be a wonderful discovery of local flavors and hospitality. New World offers just that. Nestled on a quant neighborhood street, the modest exterior and welcoming electric neon sign opens to a spacious courtyard with a stage for local entertainment. The bar is dark and cozy with friendly staff. The we opted for some on-tap cocktails and were not disappointed with the quality and flavor. They also had a massive beer selection! Truly, truly elevated bar food experience. We tried the recommended garlic knots and were blown away by the perfection of the warm doughy bread interlaced with cheese and real chunks of fresh garlic. So good that my wife, who NEVER eats the last of anything, happily grabbed the remaining bread nugget and dipped it in the freshly made tomato sauce. For our main, we were treated to the house specialty Shooting Star Pizza. Dear reader, I’m not exaggerating when I say that the smoky combination of chicken, artichoke, and feta had our mouths watering and it didn’t disappoint. The crust was firm but not overly done and the toppings were also fresh and incredibly flavorful. Yes, the drinks were good, but the food was amazing. Do not let this treasure, hidden in a neighborhood, go...
