So have you ever bit into something from a newly found food establishment and after that bite you perform a small victory dance in your chair or performed a low profile “golf clap”? This place is so amazing I did both. I’ve lived here in Tampa for 20+ years and have eaten my body weight many times over in Cuban subs and THIS traditional Cuban sub has been the best by leaps and bounds. It’s got a trendy vibe with patrons writing reviews on the walls, a tattooed staff with dread locks, gauges, and a relaxed atmosphere. Most of these FAD spots have these traits but less than average food and they go as fast as they cane but NOT SSSS, this place will hopefully be here forever. My beautiful wife had the traditional Cuban with a side of some kind of Brussels sprout salad that was delicious and that’s coming from someone that is no vegetable fan. I enjoyed the “springs theatre” that was mojo pork, Gouda cheese, crispy bacon, and baked apples on a toasted bread. Delicious combo. I had a side of pasta salad. Now the finished touch on this wonderful discovery was the homemade chocolate covered coconut macaroon. Another happy...
Read moreBeen going to SSSS for several years. Gone downhill since the new owner took over. That happy and fun neighborhood vibe is gone. Place is understaffed and missing stuff. I call in 2 sandwiches for pickup and am told after I get here that they cant make my sandwich. Should have received a call back but they r so understaffed and in the weeds that they didn't. Deli case has half the amount of deli salad selections they used to. Not giving a lower score bc the food itself is still great, but u can tell this place isn't the same anymore. Doesn't help that I have to sit here and wait for my sandwich while I should be at work. Ticket time on this is a half hour at this point. The girl running the kitchen is doing awesome, but she can only do so well with the obvious lack of support from the owner. Met this guy too when he first bought it. Seems he's in over his head. Got a lot of work to do especially if ur gonna do a price increase like...
Read moreThis is an incredible little mom and pop sandwich shop, which makes one of the best Cubans around. The sides are all amazing, from ham salad to the potato salad. I've been here six or seven times, the quality of the food (inexpensively priced) is only surpassed by the heart these people have in their food and the community. I've introduced several friends to the place, and they never disappoint.
I'm stingy with my praise of food establishments, most are "good, but I think this would make it great", but in this case, it's well deserved. My only recommendation is to eat any toasted wheat sandwich in the shop, because the toast can get a little soft if it isn't eaten there. The bread is all sourced from local bakeries, most of the meat is sliced right in front of you, and many of the meats are made by hand. All of the salads are fresh, good ingredients, and have an awesome flavor. Baked goods (brownies, etc.) are usually...
