Plum Tree — Restaurant in Tampa

I went here for lunch last week, and got the Chicken With Vegetables lunch special -- a pretty common dish at Chinese take-out places. It comes with pork fried rice and an egg roll. I figured I'd know what to expect.

Well, I was wrong! This is the best Chinese take-out I've gotten in the Tampa Bay area since moving here in 2011. In the pork fried rice, the bits of pork were really flavorful. The egg roll was better than average but nothing special. The entree, though -- the sauce was tasty, the chicken was good, and the vegetables were fresh and crisp -- fresh and crisp strips of vegetable in my Chinese take-out I say! I never see that!

The portion was enough to satisfy at lunch, and the tab came to $5.83. With a tip in the jar it was less than $7.00. Delicious Chinese food at Burger King...

Below the basic hole in a wall Chinese restaurant. I would not recommend this place for any anyone. For the price it is not worth the order. My order took almost an hour and that was me calling them to verify the order is still being accepted. Also to choose a quart vs pint on food is not worth the cost of trying this place when I could have gone to my go to Chinese place and got more for what I bought tonight. Spare ribs no meat, large side beef and broccoli was the same size as my combine sesame chicken. What’s the point of pint vs quart if the amount...

Unfortunately this was the worst Chinese food ever. Let me explain. The egg drop soup had zero taste. The spring rolls were tiny and looked like they came from the frozen food dept. The S&S Chicken was deep fried croquets over cooked. The egg foo young was terrible, the sauce was not even brown gravy. The fried rice looked and smelled like it was cooked on the same grill every other dish was cooked on. And to make it all just great, the crunchy noodles were stale beyond belief.
