Tropical Cuisine — Restaurant in Tampa

If I could give this restaurant less than 1 star or even negative stars... I would!

I ordered a small Goat/Chivo with rice and peas. It truly lived up to the description... SMALL! $19.

I ordered cabbage for a side with oxtails and got 2 bowls of shredded lettuce. Another true to descriptionsmall for $22.

I ordered mac and cheese and got a bowl of cold elbow noodles, corn and red cabbage in a creamy sauce. In no culture is THIS considered mac and cheese.

The site pictures 20 Oz bottles of Coke products for $3 each. I received 12 Oz cans.

I called the restaurant (Tropical Cuisine on Hillsborough Ave.) and was told that they do not offer cabbage or mac and cheese, although it is clearly listed on their site as options. "I have lettuce and tomato," she says. I told her that I can't mix either with my rice. They did not even send the tomato to have a side salad... just shredded lettuce!

I was then told that I would have to call the other location (not the location my food came from) to speak with a manager.

Of course I called the Adamo Drive location to speak a manager, as instructed, and was told the same nonsense as the previous store, even the part about having to call the Hillsborough location. When I objected, she could no longer understand English and told me I would have to call someone else.

$86 and I did receive what I ordered and not attended to when I called to have the problem corrected, so now... it is my mission to SPREAD this as far as I can. $86 may not seem like a lot, but since I did not get what I ordered, it is...

FYI the food looks hot, it looks amazing...smells amazing (the day of ordering) however, this food is NOT fresh. There is no reason why someone should order food one day and be completely spoiled and inedible the very next day. This just raises suspicion. I ordered on a Saturday close to their closing time and around that time the individuals behind the counter where scraping the leftovers into separate containers and taking them into the back. Im sure this was going to the back to be restored and NOT thrown out. I am almost for certain food is heated and served the next day, which I do not mind this being done at MY HOUSE, but at a restaurant I expect FRESH. I would've loved to consume my food the next day but after putting it in my fridge and taking it out to heat it up it smelled rancid. The prices are decent and portions are great. Unethical business practices: I ordered a large portion of food and instead received a small portion. The first time i called i tried to explain the mishap, and the staff hung up on me. I had to get a spanish speaking person because they couldn't commuincate effectively to me in english. When the person i had enlisted to relay my message to the restaurant, their solution was "we cant send you the correct order at this time, but if you order lunch with us, we will send the correct food from breakfast at that time". So their solution was if you want the correct order, you must order more food from them, which i feel is unethical. and quite frankly poor customer service, not to mention the fact that i felt very discriminated being an African-American and not being able to speak spanish.
