We went and I had never been. The person taking our order had nothing to say or offer. I was lost with the menu as the titles seem to have no explanations just titles of the food. She just stood there. When we ask this young girl who, obviously had no desire to be there, she stood with a blank look on her face so I ordered fajitas. She didn't ask if I want chicken steak or shrimp. I just assumed they had one thing to offer. The plate came with shrimp on it. I'm severely allergic to shellfish. She said oooh I guess we can take those off. I explain if I eat anything that has touched shellfish or cooked in the same pan, I will go to the ER. She left and that was it. We didn't know if we were getting another plate or was I stuck with no refund. We ask for sour cream, we got watered down sour cream as well as water down refried beans. She came with another plate, said nothing and walked away. I think this place has descent food but we won't go back. This poor girl needs to not associate with people. She seemed like a very nice person. But unless you know mexican food very well, I just don't advise going. I'm sorry. I expect more interaction when paying for...
Read moreVery good local casual, authentic Mexican fare. Fresh pico, and salsas are served from an open salsa bar. There are also variations of other accompaniments, such as a very delicious roasted jalapeño and carrot dish. One thing to consider is that the salsa bar is often out of the more popular salsas by a certain time in the day. This is understandable since it is a small restaurant; however, this can be disappointing when the sauce that makes your dish complete is out. This may not matter to some people, but the fresh green salsa and roasted jalapeños are what make the tacos go POW! BTW, anyone on here that rates them at one star because they donât serve free chips and salsa should be ashamed of yourself! I saw a rating like that and couldnât believe how someone could tarnish their 5 star rating like that. This is an authentic restaurant and REAL Mexican restaurants do not eat chips and salsa like we do in America. No wonder we have so little variety in Tarboro because so many people have no respect...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews I was interested in trying this restaurant but was dissapointed after having lunch there for several reasons First, the place was dirty, used napkins on the floor, water bottle on the floor. First table that we sat at was sticky and un-wiped. changed tables and the second table was sticky also and after a damp towel wipe it became apparent that it was the clear coat that was sticky. Ordered el pastuer pork taco salad that was good and my wife had the Pollo taco salad that was not good , dried chicken with a strange spice that tasted like burnt charcoal. Was very surprised that at this price point we would be eating with tiny cheap plastic forks and knives and would have to place our order at the counter ourselves. I came close to leaving before ordering due to the front of the house being so dirty as it usually means the kitchen is worse. In short, the food wasnt worth the $$ as everything is ala cart and I cant recommend...
