I honestly don't know where to start. We went a few days ago with a friend and sat for a few hours and had drinks. The bartender was excellent as was the selection of wines. Unfortunately, this previous time was when things got nasty.
Previously, I wrote a one star review on their partner business, BTW (Burgers, Tacos, Waffles) due to the arrogance of the owner and unwillingness to satisfy. We get it, not everybody is trained on how to properly handle customers, but it is what it is.
Following that, today when I went to the bar for the second time with a group of friends, it was an unfortunate addition to my previous experience at the partner business, BTW. After ordering (and paying) for our food, while we were sitting at our table drinking wine, the bartender came up and told us "The owner has talked to me and she really does not feel comfortable with you being here." We said "okay, that's no problem, we would just like the money we just paid back so that we can be on our way." So that our group could find somewhere else to eat, drink, and hang out. He said "That's no problem, it's on it's way back now." As we were sitting there figuring out where to head out to, the owner came up, threw two Togo boxes on our table, and left without saying a word. As we were walking out the door, the owner walked past us and, with that smug look on her face, said "So you got the point!" And kept on walking. I don't see why she couldn't just come talk to us herself at the table, rather than cause all of this immaturity.
The customer service is just incredibly poor. I suppose that's why I never see more than 2 or 3 people in BTW at a given time. Needless to say, we never had the chance to enjoy Brü Tap House due to the owners lack of...
Read moreGreat place. I'm a regular here, and for good reason. The ever-changing list of the best craft beers on tap is great for the beer snob and curious alike. I always look forward to coming here because I know I'll be able to try something new every time. The constantly changing nature of the taps means you're always getting beer that's as fresh as possible. Aside from craft beers, Brü features a decent selection of wines, as well as non-alcoholic drinks.
This place does not offer food, other than artisan chips, but you are more than welcome to bring your own food, or even have it delivered straight to your table from your restaurant of choice. A favorite option is the pizza place right around the corner.
The prices are decent, and the service is incredible. You could not ask for a more knowledgeable and friendly staff.
There are live music events later in the week, and relatively quiet nights like Tuesday's bingo night, earlier in the week, making this place great for all types. It's also in the very nice downtown area, making it walking distance from plenty of great locations, especially the waterfront at Wooton Park.
Brü is also fully non-smoking indoors, which is one of the best features, and the restrooms are by far the cleanest I've ever seen. They even sell some pretty neat merch.
I hope to continue being a regular here for...
Read moreI like this place. It’s got a cool vibe. But admittedly, the whole food thing is confusing. We went next door to get food and beer; the more restaurant side. Folks there said they only had a few beers and sent us to the bar spot and said they were owned by the same people and we could just order there and have more beer options. Awesome. So went there. I ordered and started a tab. Ordered beer and food. No prob. My friend ordered beer and food and started a separate tab. Easy. Food took a while but it was fine, there were great beer options. Went to close out and I got a beer check. Then they gave me a food check separate where they’d charged me multiple tabs of food. I said, “hey, you put the whole tab on my card,” and the server responded with, “Well, you didn’t tell me you wanted them separated.” Not sure how I would even know to ask that? Anyway, it turned into a hassle that required getting a manager from next door to figure it out. All of that is fine, it worked out. But it might be useful to tell people when they order food that it is a whole separate tab and also to track tabs in the system. Or put a sign up. I’d have asked if I’d known.
Overall a cool spot but making things a little more seamless...
