Black Sparrow Music Parlor — Restaurant in Taylor

I didn’t know what to expect when I was told we were going to Taylor, but I was pleasantly surprised! I don’t care what anyone says, I love the vibe of Black Sparrow. My boyfriend’s band played here recently and the staff treated them really well and were able to accommodate all of us very easily and we appreciated that so much! The inside is a nice size, comfy furniture, and a patio out back. The food was so good, another person in our group ordered 3 or 4 things off the menu!

One thing you should know before coming is that you can get beer, wine, and seltzer here but any liquor or cocktails have to be purchased at the bar right next door but that wasn’t a problem at all. I had their house sparkling wine which was a 10/10.

Well, I'm seeing bad reviews of this place as a bar. It's not really. Even in name it is first and foremost a music venue allowing folks to see artists they would normally have to drive well out of their way to see. Plus they have downright tasty bbq. If you are looking for a booty shaking dance bar or a Smokey room to drown your sorrows with the regulars, this isn't your place. If your are looking for something different, intellectual conversation and artistic integrity from up and coming or established bands, watch the calendar and swing by. Updated to add: Now that BSMP is a coffee and beer bar, I've tried out the coffee program here and it is AMAZING. On par with some of the best coffee shops in larger cities.

What a magical space in this historical building! There are special events from adult show and tell to soundbath yoga, and every Sunday from 11:00-2:00 Sunday service is where you can enjoy an open mic with different musicians from the area and conversations with a variety of people at the bar.
