UPDATE 3/9/2024: We decided to try Second Street one more time since the owners response to my bad review took responsibility and made no excuses for the bad service. I am so glad we did. Alan took care of us and was so much better than the waitress we had last time. For it to be a fair comparison I got the same thing, biscuits and gravy (After Alan checked and assured me the biscuits were fresh). And they were fluffy and cheesy. The gravy was REAL gravy and not a white sauce like last time. Plus they were smothered in gravy. Went from Biscuits and gravy that was worse than fast food to some of the best I've ever had.
In sea of mediocre restaurants in a small town, Second Street has redeemed us. Hopefully this trend will continue moving forward. I know a lot of my friends have been let down by Second Street, I've encouraged them to give it one more try. Hopefully their outcome will be as good as mine.
Original Review: We were eager to finally try Second Street. The waitress was very nice, but didn't check on us often. Although it seems like she was the only one, however there were about 3 customers so you decide. The food was sad. While my wife's Turkey sandwich was not bad, it was bathed in mayonnaise. The weird thing is the sandwich was warm but her fries were ice cold. They also tasted like they were a day old even though we were there at 11:30am. I was excited to try the biscuits and gravy with my favorite cheddar biscuits. With Biscuits and gravy the biscuits should be smothered in gravy. However there was just enough grave to cover the top, did not encompass the biscuit. No maybe that wouldn't be so bad if the biscuits weren't hard. Again, like they were a day old. Biscuits should be fluffy and crumble, not hard. In all honesty, Whataburgers biscuits and gravy are 10 times better then what they put on my plate. We love eating local and eat a lot at the restaurant next door, we were hoping to expand but Second Street will not...
Read moreTLDR: superb food, terrible service, dirty restaurant, menu is always very limited. SEE EDITS BELOW!- this is changing as they grow.
1st, the food was phenomenal. The first time I came here, they only had sandwiches. We ordered the sandwiches, and a LONG while later, we finally got them. Fries were cold, and sandwiches were getting cold too. But they were the best sandwiches I've had in town, absolutely fantastic.
Now, that being said, the service is terrible. The waitstaff needs help for sure, as it's just been two girls, and they have way too much to do. The bar and tables are disgusting and not cleaned the 2 times I've been. They always seem to have a limited menu, which would be fine if rhe service was better and the place was cleaner.
It's apparent the chef has talent, but the management side of this place is painfully inexperienced or doesn't care.
EDIT:
Went on a Wednesday for lunch. Opposite experience. There were still flies and fruit flies at the bar, but the staff was friendly and prompt. Completely different staff this time. The bartender was great!
Got salad and wings and both were great.
Only thing I didn't l like was the fact that the desert was obviously microwaved. Plate so hot they had to put a second plate under it!
Just bake it in the oven!!! Please!!! Lol

Read moreHusband went in last night for a to go order, Cobb salad and buffalo chicken sandwich with fries, both with no tomatoes. It took over an hour for the food to be ready and he has to ask for the salad dressing. This usually wouldn’t be a big deal but extra annoying after waiting so long. We opened the food when he got home and were only slightly disappointed, at first. The hard boiled eggs on the salad were definitely overcooked but not inedible. The buffalo chicken sandwich had tomatoes on it and no buffalo sauce, again not a huge deal but not what was order and upsetting after such a long wait. The real kicker is when my husband bit into the sandwich and the chicken was RAW. How they managed to take an hour+ to deliver a salad and a raw chicken sandwich is mind blowing. We used to love going here and were super happy to have another option in Taylor. The food was phenomenal on the original menu. However, the menu has changed many times and with each change the quality seems to diminish. Not to mention there are new servers nearly every time we are in and the service is not as good as it once was. Super disappointing that a once great restaurant in Taylor (that our town so desperately needs) has gone downhill drastically and seems to only be...
