It’s disappointing the foods really gone downhill since the beginning of the year. Staff is lackadaisical at best. There are 2 maybe 3 servers who really do care about their job and are actually nice and try their best. Everyone else must be a family member of the owners because they really couldn’t care less. They know they will keep their job regardless of the services provided.
With so many great places in Taylor its easy to find better service & food in town. The staff at El Corral makes one feel like they’re being an inconvenience. They’re not back to precovid capacity. Probably never will be, & they’d probably prefer if you were still masked up. To each their own. But Covid really changed their vibe.
Reading the other comments it seems like they’re good at consistently providing real bad customer service. Monarca’s 1 &2 or Mariachis can fix any Mexican food you may be craving. Plowman’s can make better pancakes.
You’d think they give damn, even just a little bit. But they don’t...
Read moreFour of us ate here for dinner and it was a really great experience. If you like hot salsa, I especially recommend asking for the salsa verde when they bring out the chips. It is REALLY hot but REALLY tasty. We ate a lot of Mexican food on our recent trip to Texas and I can say, the salsa verde at this place is my #1 favorite salsa I had on the entire trip. But it's not for people who can't handle spicy, it was also the hottest salsa I tried! Wow. The rest of the food was good too. Beans, rice were all good. I got tacos. I forget what everyone else got but I remember everyone liking what they ordered. Also the atmosphere in here is nice, it's kinda cozy and dark, a lower ceiling and warm, wood paneling. Service was very good. The staff here were very nice. I love the location in downtown Taylor, it's easy to walk here and also easy to find parking, pretty much a best-of-both worlds of accessibility. Prices here are cheap, this place offers great value...
Read moreEl Corral Lazano is our family's go to Tex Mex restaurant in Taylor. Their food is not as expensive as some other places. On our last trip, with tip, I fed four with both appetizers and dessert included with the dinner for $60 (with a well deserved tip) . We've tried a number of dishes over the years and the food is always good. I can recommend their JR volcano burrito, which is delicious, but can be Very spicy (be prepared!), their Fajitas, taco salad and green enchiladas are all great. Their fried ice cream with sopopillas is a fun dessert and while sold individually, I think it's big enough for 2 to enjoy. Breakfast is great too and served all day. Very nice staff, neat decor with all sorts of odds and ends seating (I think our last table was a dining room table repurposed). Be prepared for waiting for a table on Sundays after church but otherwise we've rarely had to wait long...
