I'm not going to add photos because there are already some accurate ones available. What I want to talk about is the BBQ. Clearly, in another era and maybe still, I don't know because I don't live in Taylor but I did grow up in the South, this was the "other side of the tracks BBQ" from the world famous one over the bridge and to the left. I've been to both. This one is better. Don't let the atmosphere fool you. I don't know the history of this place but a small grocery store next to a church says to me that the owner saw a need for the neighborhood and then added BBQ to the mix. And praise him for doing it. For the Covid era, he's already put up dividers for you and provides sanitizer at the checkout. I'll need to come back to try all the sides. But I got my hands on brisket, sausage and ribs. Honestly I don't know how to pick the best because they were all good. Next time I will try the mutton and other sides because I will make the drive back. Regularly. Thank you Davis Grocery for doing...
Read moreA little whole in the wall BBQ joint that my parents took me to while I was visiting them. The guys explained the foods and I ended up getting the spicy sausage, Cajun cabbage, and the baked beans. Yummy! I like cabbage, but the Cajun took it to a whole different level! You had the spice, but also the cabbage flavor too. I would highly recommend it! The spicy sausage I wasn't sure about, so they have me a sample...OMG!!! Yeah, that was perfect and I knew that was going on my plate for sure! The beans were just regular baked beans, but my dad got the potato salad, and he said it had a good flavor. He got the ribs, and didn't look back. My mom got the brisket sandwich style, and she said it was really good. You get to tell them how you want your brisket (normal, lean, extra lean, etc). I would definitely recommend this off the beaten path BBQ joint and the guys behind the counter are very friendly so that makes it a great atmosphere to eat...
Read moreWe ate Davis's BBQ when it was being served at Texas Beer Company in Taylor. It was delicious and moist. The sauce was so sweet and tasty that we asked if they sold it bottled. They directed us to their main location, which was a few blocks away in a little grocery store. When I asked for the sauce there, I told them we had just eaten their BBQ downtown, and they gave us a cup of it for free! We had originally gone down to try Mueller's, but the line was so long, outside and also inside, that we changed our plan and tried TX Beer Co. It was a super clean, modern venue with picnic tables. When I told someone we had eaten there, they asked if we had the cooked cabbage. They said it was the best. I had their brisket, perfect potato salad, and macaroni and cheese. The Davis BBQ staff were super friendly and served...
