Malek Al-Kabob Taylor delivers an exceptional dining experience that is nothing short of spectacular! From the flavorful dishes to the warm, inviting atmosphere, this restaurant truly stands out as a gem for Middle Eastern cuisine.
The lamb chops were a highlight of the meal—grilled to perfection with a smoky char that locked in the tenderness and juiciness of the meat. Paired with a side of fragrant rice, topped with crunchy toasted almonds, and fresh onions, this dish was a harmony of textures and flavors.
The mixed grill platter was an absolute feast, offering a variety of perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked meats. Each component, from the juicy chicken kababs to the succulent beef, showcased the restaurant's commitment to quality and authenticity. The pickled vegetables and fresh veggies provided a vibrant, tangy contrast that elevated the entire platter.
The lentil soup was a comforting delight—rich, hearty, and brimming with a perfect balance of spices that warmed the soul. It paired beautifully with the fresh pita bread, which was soft, warm, and ideal for dipping or enjoying on its own.
Beyond the incredible food, the atmosphere at Malek Al-Kabob Taylor added to the experience. The cozy and clean setting, coupled with attentive service, made the meal even more enjoyable.

Read moreDuring our work trip to Detroit, we decided to check out this highly-reviewed spot near DTW airport. Situated in a small plaza, parking was plentiful. Inside, the ambiance was decent, and the restaurant had good seating capacity.
Unfortunately, the experience didn't quite live up to the high reviews. It seemed they prioritized online orders and delivery over dine-in customers, leading to delays in taking orders, bringing food, and settling the bill.
For starters, we ordered the 1/2 veggie grape leaves and lamb stir fry appetizer. While the veggie grape leaves were just okay, with a filling that lacked flavor, the lamb stir fry was enjoyable despite the meat being slightly dry. The plate was generously covered in hummus, compensating for the smaller meat portion. Additionally, the bread basket at the start was delightful, especially with the garlic dip.
Moving on to mains, we tried the shawarma plate and sish kebob plate. The shawarma combo with lentil soup as a side had a good portion size, but the almond rice was average, and the beef meat lacked flavor compared to the chicken. The sish beef kebob was also decent but a bit dry and lacking in flavor. However, the lentil soup accompanying it was tasty.
Overall, while the food had its hits and misses, it didn't quite match the high expectations set by the reviews. If you're in the area and craving Mediterranean cuisine, it's worth a visit, but manage your expectations based on...
Read moreI'm going to start this review saying that this used to be my very favorite Arab food restaurant in the Metro Detroit area. I used to love their food and we ate there very regularly. We would mostly get take out, and even though they messed up the orders on multiple occasions, and the quality would sometimes drop, we stuck with them. Until recently. Since the pandemic, their service and prices have been ridiculous. I get that prices have increased, but they seemed to be the first to set the new high bar in price for Arab food. I placed an order last night over the phone and was quoted a price that was higher than the usual price for what we ordered just last year. They quoted $59.33, which is at least $5 more than what I paid last year WITH the tip. Frustrating, but that's the state of the ogliarchy. So, I go to pick it up, and I'm quoted over $66 dollars without tip. I told them this was not what I was quoted and he just argued with me politely. I told them they could keep the food and walked out. I have been a loyal customer of this place and sang their praises for years, but never again. I'm done paying more money so they can pay all of their cousins and brothers to stand around while they only have 2 or 3 tables of customers. I wonder why they're not doing the business they used to......
