The Staff ESPECIALLY Owner Donna Ficaj are incredibly rude. My mother made a reservation for her group to attend a friend's music showcase at the restaurant. Unbeknownst to her one of the servers at the restaurant plead No Contest to STALKING and Malicious use of Telecommunications services on me (My mother was NOT a party to the case). My mother (who just finished up her meal) was talking to her friends not paying attention to her surroundings heard a server ask to clear the plates, as My mother looked up to say thank you, she realized it was "Allie". She said nothing. A few minutes later "Allie" who was not even their waitress came over again to clear more dishes. She then interrupted my mother's conversation to ask "Isn't your name Michelle? She responded Yes. "Allie" then came back to the table with a woman who I would later find out is owner Donna Ficaj. Keep in mind this is the THIRD TIME! "Allie" ask my mother "If she had a problem with her", My mother replied "NO, just stay away from me" My mother attempted to watch her friend who had started performing but the owner told my mom that they had to go. The bill had not even been brought over and she continued to tell her to leave, My mother is in her 60's and walks with a cane on her bad days so I can't wrap my head around how or why a business owner could do this. If that weren't bad enough after a few minutes the police showed up to escort her out! Really!?? This place has forever lost our group's business and the fact that the employee that was responsible for this actually gave the restaurant a 5-star review is laughable. I just wanted to let everyone know about the experience that my disabled mother experience. I will be moving forward with the appropriate steps in accordance with the ADA as well as other necessary avenues. This situation is upsetting and humiliating for my mother to be escorted by police for no reason at all. I attempted to resolve the situation with the owner. She is rude, hateful, and hung up on me. Dine here at...

My wife and I were looking for a new place to have brunch on a Saturday. She had remembered hearing positive things about Salute Taverna, so we made the trek from Rockwood to Taylor to check it out.

We arrived at 1:00 PM and didn't have to wait for seating. We like to sample a variety of menu items at new places, and there were lots of compelling options to consider. We decided on Biscuits & Gravy, the Italian Benedict and the Chorizo Bowl.

Melissa, our server, was attentive and had great recommendations. She also brought the food out quickly. Everything was piping hot when it hit the table. Our first taste was the Biscuits & Gravy, and we both had the same opinion. Incredible! I'm a Biscuits & Gravy snob and frequently disappointed. This wasn't the case here. Chef Sean has a secret recipe he's been developing, and it was the best I've ever had. No joke...the best.

The eggs on the Italian Benedict were perfect. There are only a few places Downriver that poach eggs correctly on their Benedicts, and this is one of them. The prosciutto adds a special Italian twist that is nicely accentuated by the arugula. Oh, and the home fries were nicely seasoned and cooked perfectly.

Finally, the Chorizo Bowl was an amalgam of flavors and ingredients you might not expect for breakfast or brunch. Chorizo, chorizo gravy, jalapenos, braised beef (WHAT!) and fried onions. All of that topped with eggs and sitting on home fries. Spicy, savory, comforting and way too much food for one person. The Chorizo Bowl was very good, and it really took me by surprise. I'm SO glad I ordered it.

These dishes all seemed thoughtfully crafted by Chef Sean to make the diner happy they ordered it, and if this was his intent, he nailed it today. The bold flavors, excellent service and fair prices will see us returning and recommending without reservation. Great job...

Went for a party today,The heater was BLASTING down the back of my head the whole time , the wait staff seemed overwhelmed, not their fault , waited for over a hour to order and the appetizer was over cooked and cold and small portion (I did not send it back because I saw how things were going and just said screw it) . A different waitress came back to us and she had things under control , ordered my food and when it came it was wrong , I told them I was just going to send it back because I had to leave and the manager told the waitress that she's not going to take it off the bill , I went and spoke with the manager (Donna) and she had a massive attitude, she said because it was cooked exactly to order , I said I didn't order anything with tomatoes and told me she wasn't taking it off the bill , I told her it was fine , I just won't pay for the appetizer then and I'll leave . She then removed the item. Again , I do not blame the wait staff or the cooks , they both seemed overwhelmed, but at no point did I speak or approach anyone with any kind of aggression and was speaking very calm . Donna needs to learn how to speak to people . Replying to the owner/ manager Thank you for not trying to refute everything else I said about the extremely long wait and cold, overcooked food, and yes... You did take the item that was the wrong dish off my bill after speaking to me in a extremely rude way " IM NOT TAKING IT OFF THE BILL!! ITS COOKED TO ORDER AND STATES IT HAS TOMATOES!" While your eyes were bugging out of your head and you were leaning towards me in a domineering way , and me having to extrapolate every word I said to your server on how thats not what I ordered . If you think that's normal and you being nice , I'm amazed that place is still open . Have...

Overpriced and overrated. Pay attention to the bad reviews here because they all allude to the same scammy behavior. My friends and I placed an order for three gnocchi entreès for pick up. The portion size was laughable. They combined all three into ONE takeout box to “save us money”, and then charged us $60, which I thought was a normal price until I saw the petty amount of food they gave us. When we picked up the order, we asked if they gave us the wrong order since the portion size was so small. They said “No, we actually gave you a lot.” HA. This was our first time ordering from this place and when we said we were told over the phone before ordering that one order feeds 1-2 people and that didn’t match up with the order we picked up, we were told “Well, you should have eaten inside first to see what our portion sizes were like before ordering.” What kind of customer service is that? The gnocchi was dry. They refused to give us a partial refund and said it was our fault we didn’t order enough. Safe to say we’re never ordering from here again. We paid $60 for one takeout box of gnocchi. We were ripped off. Definitely don’t go here. BLACKLISTED. Please save yourself the trouble and go across town to any other Italian restaurant, like Sammy’s Cucina, and order the same amount of gnocchi, better tasting, for literally $12. I’m still in shock that they charged me $60 for $12 worth of gnocchi.

I'm not certain why it took me so long to find this place, but man, am I glad I did. First of all, our server Olivia did an amazing job. To say that she was tentative to our needs would be an understatement. Management should certainly be proud that she was the face of their business for this first-time customer. We specifically asked for off menu items and specialty drinks that she made happen. She even brought the bartender out when I asked for a bruised martini, specifically so she knew that my drink would be made the way I wanted it. Now on to the food... Having been a sous chef to a classically trained french chef for several years has made me slightly picky. Let me just lay it out for you - The pasta was homemade. The arancinis were homemade. The food was served hot and was properly seasoned! Eating outside on the grotto was a great experience. My only recommendation would be for candles on the tables outside for us old folks trying to see the menu a bit more easily. Definitely a great evening and money well spent. Do yourself a favor and stop by to see for yourself. Ask to sit in Olivia's section. You won't be disappointed.
