Yupha's Thai Kitchen
The food here is amazing and the service is fantastic!
Food we ordered during our last visit. Sampler: Thai rolls (2), golden curry puff (2), Satay (2), and Kew Krob (6).
Roasted Duck Roasted duck over steamed mixed veggies, served with its own sauce.
Special - Giant Shrimp Giant Shrimp with asparagus over rice.
Yuphas Thai Kitchen in Tempe is at the top of our list for Thai food! We started with the Sampler; the Satay was perfect as the chicken was moist and very tender.
My wife could not decide which item she liked best. The Puffs were light but crispy, and the Thai Rolls tasted great! Not forgetting the dipping sauces, they really added to the flavor, not overpowering the flavor of the sampler items.
The Roasted Duck was juicy and flavorful and didn't have that strong, gamey taste you sometimes get with duck. She would order it again, but next time with mild spice. You get 1/2 a duck! There is plenty of food, no skimping here. The Giant Shrimp really stood up to its name. The large shrimp were fresh, tender, and great tasting with medium spice. Combined with asparagus, vegetables, and rice, it really filled me up, again, no skimping on the servings.
The fare is always fresh and delicious, and Yuphas has a great ambiance, and we love the decor. It is usually quiet with soft conversation, however on this visit we sat next to a group of six that were rather loud as they were enjoying themselves; I get it, but I was hoping for a quiet dinner with my wife.
We always notice a flow of guests, and the to go order table seems to always be busy with a constant flow of people picking up orders. Our meal on this visit was about $79 with drinks, ice tea, and no dessert.
We highly recommend Yuphas, I won't recommend an item as I feel you will enjoy whatever you order! Put Yuphas...
Read moreFirst and last time I ate here was before the pandemic. I was glad to see they stayed in business and were open! Fairly busy, brought a friend for lunch. We both selected a lunch special and I added crab puffs (appetizer). First came the crab puffs. Every time I've had crab puffs, they have been in triangles of fried wonton with a lump of cream cheese and a little imitation crab meat, barely discernable but still tasty. These were perfection! Folded in a spring roll wrap and fried, they were rectangular mini-burritos of crab meat (yes, imitation, but delicious!) With the perfect amount of cream cheese! Crispy little bites of delight, they were! Next was the salad with peanut dressing. They offer ranch or o&v, but peanut is the default. The green leafless were fresh and also included slices of cucumber and tomato. The tomato was a bit on the pale side, but I don't eat those or cucumbers anyway. We were served a small broth soup at the same time that had veggies and fresh cilantro leaves in it. Didn't eat much of it as the entrees were brought out.. My friend was pleasantly transported back some 40 years ago to when she lived in San Fran and frequented a Chinese restaurant that served dishes with flat rice noodles. That's what she had, with chicken. I had a dish in which the first ingredient listed was mushrooms. While the menu made no mention of it being spicy, the waitress asked if I wanted it to be, and without thinking I said medium. Not the best way to taste the mushrooms, that I love, but totally my fault. Still, it was a tasty...

Tried 2xs. Re: Service: Food delivered to wrong table and then placed on mine. I saw this occur to other patrons. Different staff to seat you, take your order, food delivery and bussing. No one checks back with you. Entree delivered immediately after appetizer, so dinner gets cold as you eat your appetizer (2x's). Check delivered as I had just started eating my entree ("I'm not trying to rush you but . . . ") (2x''s) Re: food: Tom Kha Gai soup was the thickest I have had in 35 yrs - nearly gravy-like, and too sweet. Pad Thai ok, but also too sweet, IMO. Veggie stir fry came sauced in a brown gravy. No vegetable spring rolls on menu. Provided only as an occasional "special" - What? This is a Thai staple. Papaya salad is fresh and flavorful but served with too much marinade. Food portions are generous & pricing fair/reasonable. Not sure if this is the only Thai food the ravers have tried (unknowing students?), but for those that are used to Chgo or NY City quality, you will be...
