Peking King Restaurant — Restaurant in Temple Terrace

We saw that there were many reviews on here saying despite the appearance this place has really good food, so we decided to give it a try. On a positive note, the man behind the counter was reasonably kind and the food was ready pretty quickly; otherwise this experience was frankly terrible. We started to go through the drive through (the letters are falling off the sign) but determined it must be a pick-up only window, so we went inside. The inside of the building was cleared of tables with an empty yet visibly dirty floor. We ordered bourbon chicken and chicken chow mein. Every piece of chicken in the former was a dry, curved sickle, and there was little sauce underneath it in a bed of rice devoid of flavor. The latter can best be described as blanched boiled chicken in a gelatinous cabbage soup that troublingly wiggled. It smelled and tasted sour. DONT LET THE GOOD REVIEW AVG FOOL YOU. TAKE THE EXTRA 10 MINS TO GO TO ORIENTAL EXPRESS IN DOWNTOWN WHERE THE FOOD IS GOOD AND FRESH. SERIOUSLY. I never leave reviews, but the food was so horrible I had to. The chicken tasted like it was cooked hours and hours ago and left under a heat lamp. It was hard and crunchy. Seriously awful. I'll never go to that place again. I ordered two large combinations and each was $12 and something, that's fine. When I got to the window, the kid told me the combos are with white rice. I don't go to a Chinese restaurant to eat white rice, i can make that at home. When I told him I want fried rice he went to the back and i here people arguing, he comes back and charges me and extra $4, and I'm like fine.
