Jimmy's Egg — Restaurant in Temple

First off, let me tell you that this was our first time going to this restaurant and I would give them a negative star but it's set up to give at least one. (So there we go!) Nonetheless, we went in on a Sunday around 11ish, it was somewhat full. Upon entering the restaurant we had to wait to be seated. My kids had to use the facilities so why not, right! lets get their hands washed. Well, when we entered the facilities both stalls were being used. In which one was the hostess which brings me to my first RED flag. Eeekk! My girls were astounded and grossed out. Well, when we exited the facilities my girls and I looked at each, looking at this young person being the one to NOT wash their hands. Well, after she handed us our menus with these dirty hands of hers, we ordered and washed our hands again.

Upon being seated 5 minutes later our waitress although polite was very scattered. Not sure if it was the ambience of the place or what, but she looked as if she didn't have a care in the world. After taking our order she went to take food to another table then inputted our order. After that she stood at the counter wrapping forks and talking to other employees. An hour later, the place was somewhat emptied (and if you have been there you can see the cooks and what food is ready to be given to the patrons). Well, unfortunate for us our food was sitting at the window for 10 minutes getting cold while the waitress was still talking and wrapping silverware. When I made eye-contact with her, she looked at our food walked up to the window crossed words with the cook and decided to come and tell us that they ran out of mashed potatoes. When she told her she'd have hash-brown it took another 5 minutes for us to get our meals. By the time we get our meal our food was cold! Not wanting to wait longer we ate. At that time, my daughter started eating her chicken fried steak with white gravy and finds out that the whole thing tastes like breakfast-sausage, she decides not to eat it. Instead wait on one of her sides being mini-pancakes, which haven't been brought to the table. On the other side of me I had my other three kids tell me that the pancakes didn't have flavor and they decided not to eat them. At that point I was done! I just wanted to get our check and leave to never return to this restaurant.

The only reason we had decided to come to this place was because it was promoted on the BeLocal as being a must visit brunch restaurant. NOPE! They are so wrong. I hope this review helps those that are looking for a good brunch location. Dont waste your money and...

I visited as a Door Dash driver. The place was fairly busy, given that it is Sunday in the afternoon. having already read some of the other reviews, it seems the average wait time is anywhere from 30 - 45 minutes on a busy day which was fine by me. The kicker here is that throughout the span of the 40 minutes it took for the customers food to be prepared, I checked on the order 3 different times. This wouldn't be a big deal if I had a team member inform me when the order was done or, if there wasn't a big wall blocking the pick-up station from eye-shot. Instead I waited in the VERY claustrophobic waiting area. As waves of customers entered, I had to awkwardly maneuver myself so as to not be in the way. The hosts were of no help either. One of them kept staring at me for some reason I couldn't understand. Mind you, I was in conversation distance from them but, that's besides the point. While I was waiting, I walked up for the second time to check on the order; asked the hostess if the order on the pickup counter was possibly mine. She quickly covered the receipt and asked me for the name of the order, as if to say I would potentially be trying to deceive my way into a free meal. I understand the precaution, some people do that but, not me. I'm just trying to make money here y'all. Anyways, needless to say the order was not mine. To conclude this 100 page essay of a review, I checked for a third time. After another brief confusing interaction with the host at the pick-up station, it turned out that the order had been sitting there for 5 minutes. I picked the order up and promptly left this experience behind me. Until now of course... hehe. I have nothing against Jimmy's Egg. Very deceiving from outside. I thought this restaurant was small inside. NOT!! Very spacious and clean with comfortable seating for all. Very pleased with this restaurant 👍. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food was great. I highly recommend this restaurant for one or the whole family. A 5 ⭐'s rating is what I give and a recommendation for all to try this restaurant 👍👍. Update: 23 September,2024. Just went for a late breakfast. Was not disappointed. "KIA" our server; the best server, is and always the best. From the moment of entering the restaurant till the time we leave. 👍👍. Food, atmosphere, cleanliness and service always a 5+ ⭐'s. I highly recommend this restaurant.. Update: 3 January, 2025. Went in for a late lunch. No waiting, Khiah, our server ( the best) was right there. Didn't have to wait long before our food was on the table.
