Recently, my girlfriend and I were passing through Clinton, TN on our way to Knoxville. It was a little after 10 am in the morning and we were a little hungry. My Girlfriend said 'let's go to Golden Girls for Breakfast' and we went. It was a rainy morning, everything was wet including us. We parked in Handicap out front, there is a Handicap ramp as the main entrance and Handicap/wheelchair accessible entrance.
When we first went in the main door, it was like a waiting area, then the 2nd door took us into the checkout/kitchen area. It was very refreshing to see and experience. They were in process of making Desserts, which smelled really good.
We waited only a few minutes to be seated. The main dining area is Wheelchair accessible, there is a secondary dining area that I saw that did not appear to be Wheelchair accessible. There is 1 dining area that is. The person who guided us to a table was kind enough to remove 1 of the chair for me, which was very much appreciated due to being in a wheelchair. Our Waitress/Server was a young lady by the name of Hollie. She was friendly, kind & attentive. Hollie took our order and since I had never been there before. I was enjoying the atmosphere. My Girlfriend has been there before.
Hollie brought out out order and ordered Jellies for our Toasts. I really enjoy the meal, I could only eat about half of it. Apparently, the Golden Girls Restaurant is really popular for their Desserts as well. We order 2 slices of Coconut Cake to go. Hollie brought both and our check as well. I believe that I had a very positive experience there. I have lived in Knoxville, TN for 50 years, I have been to all the surrounding areas including Clinton but going to Golden Girls was my 1st time. Thank you for the great experience and the food food.
Their restaurant is clean, plenty of parking, Wheelchair accessible as well, and The Staff are friendly & helpful.

Read moreFood was very fresh and homemade. The cucumbers were outstanding. Whoever they have as their supplier for produce, it is top notch. The host was very gracious as was the cashier. I believe there were two or three servers here during this day I’m giving it five stars because the food was excellent and the owners take pride in the restaurant. However I did have a blemished experience with the servers. One they were so much make up you honestly thought they were perhaps manikins. Second I had ordered my appetizer, and my family was checking on me to see if I had made it to the restaurant. There was very inclement weather the day I visited. The server was nowhere near when my family texted me I tapped my phone to tell them where I was and that I had made it safely. The server in a non-funny non-sarcastic way said are you gonna stay on your phone all day or are or are you going to order. She was about 10 feet away from my table. Meanwhile there were customers talk talking on their phones. And I’m very conscious not to be rude and talk on my phone while someone is present or to take a long phone call while I am at lunch I typically just say hey I’m at lunch or I’m in a restaurant I’ll call you back later. The server was angry I do not understand people that are angry and in the public. Would remedy this if I was the owner. This is a down-home family place with excellent cooking and tradition if for some reason the server did not like my side conversation that was not to her about people using drugs then maybe she should not work at...
Read moreMy godfather Kevin and I visited this restaurant from Illinois, on the way to and back from South Carolina for a vacation.
We were served both times by Carmen, who was very personable, sweet, funny, efficient, and attentive.
She went above and beyond each time, but just completely blew us away (in a phenomanel way) with her good morals and work ethic. For when during this second visit, another employee was going to turn us away because there wasn't any of their chicken left, and about 20 minutes to closing. She told us that they were closed.
Carmen told her no, fighting (cordially and politely) to let us stay as she stated she had just seated another group and it was only fair, ALL THE WHILE joking with us smiling ear to ear as she seated us. Anyone else just "doing their job" wouldn't have cared as she did for her fellow customers and the business with such a contagious good vibe.
Thanks to Carmen, this restaurant with enjoyable food, an enjoyable atmosphere, and wonderful service by her, we left on a fantastic note.
This Lady, Carmen, truly brings out the literal meaning of "golden girl" and deserves the positive recognition. I'd be disappointed as a customer if she didn't receive it by her peers and the owners.
Thank you, Carmen for giving us TWO great memories of Tennessee. We will be recommending the restaurant to family and friends in Illinois, and we definitely will stop again when passing...
