My experience today: I waited an hour for 5 sandwiches. I asked that all the potato pancakes be in one or two containers, separate from the rest because they are cooked to order and I was driving 3 hours and put the rest in a cooler. I had to separate everything and they did help. They left one in a bag which I found once I got to my destination. I pulled my pastrami out of the bag to eat on the way. NOT PASTRAMI! It looked like corn beef with cayenne pepper all over it. HUH?! 🤦🤷. TURNS OUT THERE'S CAYENNE PEPPER ON ALL THE MEAT SANDWICHES. Who does that and doesn't tell you? He did say the pastrami was spicy but usually is because of the seasoning on the outside. No seasoning on the outside. Then the LW sandwiches comes with 3 slices of bread. NOT! 2 slices of bread for all sandwiches. Some of the potato pancakes were very burnt on one side. Not even a full container of apple sauce. Seriously? The best part: he told me what sides they had but wasn't sure if that was all of them so I looked at the menu. Ordered latkes for all the sandwiches. As he's ringing them up, tells me it's an extra dollar for them because you get 3. So don't give so many or say that right away. Please stop burning them. I won't be eating a single thing with cayenne pepper all over everything. Two others will not be able to eat any meat either. Poor service, poor food... Or at least the cayenne pepper. A few will eat tomorrow as I got back much later than expected. It was also very hot inside so I waited in the cooler air outside. The cookie I bought were rather stiff. 🤦. I'm a pastry chef. These were clearly from at least Friday, wrapped in one later plastic wrap. HINT: that does not keep cookies fresh. The end!
Replying to your reply: I was there at 2:00 and no way did you say you were in the middle of a rush! I would have left. Read your own menu where it started there slices of bread. Where does it say an additional $1.00 for latkes because you give 3? You asked me if I wanted the sandwiches deconstructed because I said I was putting them in a cooler for a 3 hour drive. You turned around and said "I told her" twice when I said I had asked to have all the latkes separate because the food was going in a cooler for a long drive and I would keep them out. You said you'd put them in plastic carry bags and didn't. You also never said you used cayenne pepper as your seasoning for pastrami. You've clearly never eaten real kosher pastrami out of you have and do yours differently, you had a responsibility to tell me when you said yours was spicy, it's because you shake cayenne pepper all over it and all over the rest of the meat sandwiches. They are not happy! I've already told my friends in Terre Haute what occurred. The truth! As having had a walk in KOSHER bakery, I never had a customer wait an hour. Nor would I sell them a dessert that's nothing like what they expected. Of I changed from traditional, I let them know what was in it. You are clearly trying to save face by lying here. I'm not making up one thing but clearly you are. Lying is not the way to save face. Also, thanks for burning some of the latkes and giving them to me. I worked at Izzy's deli in Cincinnati years ago and I would never give anyone anything burned. I told them if there would be a delay. If I ever, which I never did, burned the latkes, is immediately let them know what happened and made more immediately. Never give...

Read moreWe travel all over and this is hands down some of the finest falafel in the continental US. The curry is also sublime. The Turkish coffee warms your heart and lifts your spirit. The south African sweet potato stew is a symphony of flavor, well orchestrated with spices you can taste have been allowed to ripen over time. If you are looking for hearty and ACTUALLY good vegan/vegetarian food that tastes like real food cooked and prepared by loving hands, please don't hesitate to stop by for a little slice of the sublime in Indiana. Oh, and if you are offered a slice of homemade iced apple pie with homemade whipped cream on the side... Even if you are already overstuffed from the oversized portions, don't deny yourself the pleasure. (Fun fact, I wasn't told the homemade whipped cream was vegan until after the fact... And I would have never guessed- THAT'S how good this place is!) And the real icing on the cake is that these are real good people here. Chavah, or "mama" as she is called by her children who work with her in this family run establishment, is like a beacon of good on this earth. A Ray of sunshine in what can feel like a sea of despondency. For authentic Jewish food in the Midwest and some cheer and love heaped on the side,...
