I grew up going to Ryske's and loved their cinnamon rolls. My wife and I took my daughter there and drove all the way from Grand Rapids. We were seated at 11 am. When we tried to order cinnamon rolls. They told us they were out. We asked what pastries they did have and the waiter didn't know. He had to go up to the front and look in the case. When he came back he came back he couldn't remember what they had even though he had just looked. My wife had to get up and walk to the front herself to see what they actually had. They had iced coffee on the menu. When I asked to order that the waiter told me they were out. So my wife and I both ordered hot coffees. The whole time we were there he never offered to refresh our coffee or ask if we wanted more. He never offered or brought us waters. My wife got hash browns and there was no ketchup on our table. Our waiter never checked on us until it was time for the bill so my wife had to walk up to the front to get ketchup herself. Our food came within a few minutes of ordering it. It was ok, but only lukewarm when we got it and cold before we could finish it. It was ok but nothing to write home about. The food definitely was not worth the amount it cost. When we went to pay we saw they had several boxes of cinnamon rolls up front to purchase. They should have opened these boxes for the present paying dining customers, especially after we told them we had driven from Grand Rapids just for them. While we were paying our bill we heard other dining patrons try to order cinnamon rolls just to be told they were all out. Then we also saw they had a big vat of iced coffee ready at the front with all the other coffee, after I had been told they were out. When I paid the bill the girl cashing me out asked how our breakfast was. I replied "Meh, it was ok." She didn't ask any follow up to that or really have any response whatsoever. Very very disappointing. Don't waste your money. Go to Anna's...
Read moreNot impressed. The place is way overpriced for the food and the service. It has a cheap "industrial" look inside. There is no service from the host/waiter - everything is on "self service routine: you have to get your own coffee, soda, utensils, napkins etc. this part reminded me Qudoba. Nobody takes your order - you have to get it from the counter. Walking up to the counter I had a distinct "deja vu" that I was in Starbucks. I really didn't appreciate that they asked me for the tip right after placing the order: I hadn't seen any food or service yet, but you already asking for a tip? Not cool. The food was ok. I was looking for more, for the prices they have. Nothing special, you can get this kind of breakfast food (eggs, bacon, toast etc) in any of your local Bob Evans. My toast was so soaked in butter, I actually tried to squeeze the excess out. The slice of melon was so small, it barely had any edible part on it. This is not the restaurant I will drive to go to. Perhaps you can stop there if it is...
Read more"It's fun to go here!" "Fantastic!" "Friendly!" (Quotes from my family) Fresh baked goods: depending on the time you're there, you might get to watch them being made in the open kitchen. You can eat a delicious, flavorful meal here, and take home delightful treats! Sometimes there is live music. We asked for some special things, like splitting our Chipotle Chicken bowl and putting different bases in each half and putting fudge and whipped cream on a cream of four for people. When they're super busy, they might not be able to do that, but they were able to accommodate us this time. In nice weather, look for seating on the patio. The balcony seating was fun. I saw a pick-up window, and information on catering, too. (See photos.) I also saw online something about deliveries!!! Go...
