Is very disappointing experience. We were sat promptly received our drinks promptly. We ordered an appetizer of smoked wings. Waited what I'd call an appropriate amount of time. The wings arrived hot and we're very good. We waited 20 minutes to order forder food after the wings were delivered. Is the waitress never stopped in at an appointment time. We actually had to flag her down to make our dinner order. There were 3 of us. We ordered 2 burgers and a pulled pork sandwich. We waited again a reasonable amount of time and and the 2 burgers came out out but no pork sandwich and the person that ran the food seemed very surprised. Moments later the server came and asked how everything was and I mentioned that we were missing the pork sandwich. She said she'd put a rush on it and get it out to us right away. 22 minutes later outcame the pork sandwich. The server did apologize and said it was her error. I drove down from Grand Rapids for a job that took me the entire day in Kalamazoo I reached out to my God daughter and her roommate to take them out to a nice dinner. They both have recently moved into an apartment in the area while attending college. The restaurant was not busy. People look to be having a nice evening and enjoying themselves inside and outside. Our server spent the majority of her time talking to another young lady and a man that she was with in the diningroom. Not at any point did she ask if we like another round of drinks. Now I am a 30 plus year veteran of food service. Most of years in the restaurant business and I would have been totally embarrassed. If this would happen to one of my customers. My God daughter's roommate is a server and she was completely embarrassed by the level of service that we received. There was a gentleman there that I assumed was the manager overseeing the floor at times. He seemed unaware of what was going on inside of his own store. The food was very good I have to say but the service was horrible. Very disappointed in the service there were many other options where we could have taken our money in the area. Maybe your experience will be different with a different server than ours. I think at some point we'll come back and try it again but I think it's going to be a while...
Read moreThis was one of those brewery/restaurants that was on my radar, but for some reason, we never made it down here. That was a mistake. We missed a lot of wonderful meals, and some of the best beer and cider in West Michigan. They don't lean a lot on being a farm to table restaurant, but that's exactly what they are. The fresh and scratch made kitchen really shines through, especially this time of the year. They took zucchini, made it into fritters, and created something wonderful. Served with a side of tzatziki. Think zucchini latkes. I will crave these for a long time. New on the menu is BBQ Chicken Cob salad. This isn't the healthiest salad ever created, but it's wonderful, right down to the house-made BBQ Blue Cheese dressing. And it was huge. And I finished the entire salad. One other dish that shouldn't be overlooked are their pizza's. Neapolitan in style, with toppings that are as fresh as everything on this menu. The Chicken Bacon Ranch is elevated, along with the Mushroom Spinach. Local ingredients count. The burger and handheld selection hasn't been explored yet, but they're next on my list. So let's talk desert. All scratch made. But standing out from the crowd is their cheesecake. Cheesecake at most restaurants are made off-sight, and generally frozen. Not here. New York style, and made in-house by Ruth, one of the co-owners. It is the best piece of cheesecake I've had in over 30 years. Perfect amount of cake like texture. Thin graham cracker crust crunches with every bite. It really doesn't need the blueberry compote and the lemon sauce, but you won't regret using either. Or both. Being a cider head, I was really impressed their selection. The Cherry is phenomenal. Don't expect the back-sweetened stuff that too many cideries lean toward, This is crisp and tart, letting the cherries shine. The Rum Barrel aged Mojito that's on tap presently is brilliant. The beer is spot on. A couple of crisp, bitter IPA's anchor the tap list, more of which I have to explore. They also have Lawton Ridge Wines available, which the Schultz family also owns. I'll try those next time. So please, give these folks your patronage. You won't regret it...
Read moreMy wife and I went out to dinner on Friday, May 25th, and were told that there would be a 30-45 minute wait, which is pretty normal during peak dinner times at Texas Corners Brewing Company. We expected the wait so we grabbed a beer and cider and went out back to wait. After about an hour of waiting, we went inside to check where we were in line and were told that the internet was out so they were unable to seat people. There were 5 or 6 groups waiting outside and there were literally five empty tables inside and two more empty ones outside. The staff didn't do a great job improvising, which caused quite a bit of frustration for all of us waiting (we saw two groups leave). Once we were sat, it felt like the kitchen was playing catch up and it took nearly another hour for our food to come out. I had the bison burger and my wife had the wings, which normally both come out very quickly. Both were a bit overcooked and just weren't the normal high quality that we've come to expect from TCBC.
To top it off, our waitress didn't seem overly concerned about us and left our dirty plates and empty glasses on the table even after we'd paid our bill (see attached picture).
All in all, it wasn't a great visit. Our drinks were very good, as usual, so that kept it from being a one star visit, but the lack of communication/poor service, the amount of time waiting (nearly two hours from when put in our name to when our food was delivered), and the "blah" food contributed to the poor overall rating.
We're hoping they just had an off night and that our next visit will be back up to the normal lofty standards that TCBC has set...
