Wrice BBQ — Restaurant in Texas City

My wife and I were looking for a good Texas BBQ restaurant, and being the inexperienced non-locals that we are, simply googled “bbq restaurant.” We decided to go with Wrice BBQ after seeing it didn’t have terrible reviews and the pictures of the food looked more than edible. We got there and ordered a couple of combo plates, and upon ordering my food I thought to myself that the guy who took my order was very pleasant (as I’m used to what my home state Oregon generally has to offer, which is often subpar at best.) My wife and I sat down to enjoy our meals, which were delicious, at the perfect time, too, as it was an off hour and the restaurant was empty. Out came the gentleman that took our order, along with his wife. Come to find out, it was Mr. and Mrs. Wrice themselves, and they were wonderful folks that were great company during our meal. 1st time going to this place, 2PM on a Sunday. The man behind the counter was courteous and helpful suggesting a meal. He let me know they're open till 5pm on Sundays. I went with the rib and brisket combo with Mac n cheese, potato salad for the sides and a can of soda. It also comes with BBQ sauce, a small side of pickles and 2 slices of bread. RIBS = AMAZING! 👏🙌🙏. Moist and tender with the perfect amount of smoke and spice. Everything was good. Brisket was a little dry but tasted great. Mac was creamy and seasoned well. Potato salad was cool, crisp, fresh and tangy. BBQ sauce was just the right amount of sweet and spice, it's got a little kick to it. Needless to say I'll definitely be back for a rib plate. My son and I were looking for some grub after a day at the range and Wrice BBQ was the first result for restaurants in Google Maps. We knew the moment we pulled up out front it was going to be good. Roosevelt, the owner, did not disappoint. Not only was the food piping hot, his engagement with us prior to getting our food was refreshing and a real delight. He seems like a real renaissance man in this next career venture he's had for 7 years.
