Today was my first visit to this establishment. I saw a lady on Tik-Tok go on and on about this place and the food so I said that I will try it out today. As the reviews stated it is still under construction when you walk in. The sound of Mexican music will throw you off because for me it was unexpected being that it is a soul food restaurant. I was the first customer because I arrived at 11:53am before they opened. The cashier was very polite and quite. The owner came out and was talking to the young lady behind the register then she said "Welcome, is this your first time here?" I replied yes, she smiled and said Welcome to Annie B's. So, I ordered my Cajun Turkey Wings, cabbage and yams with a strawberry cake. On my route home, the amazing aroma of the food filled my car. My mouth was watering the entire 20min ride home to Spring Tx. Anyway, when I got home and opened the lid, I had Turkey Necks instead of the wings. I wasn't that disappointed because at least it was Turkey and they were really Big Necks. I took a bite of one of the necks and it was very flavorful. The sight of the cabbage was already a disappointment because I didn't see any seasoning on it and the yams looked fresh but you couldn't see any cinnamon, nutmeg, sugar nothing on them. But, I said to myself looks can sometime be deceiving. So, I took a bite of the cabbage and it was just as it looked. It taste like they had just boiled the cabbage and that's it. The yams were fresh but there was a hint of a cinnamon and sugar taste. I enjoyed the cornbread. I did eat the food because I spent $30 on this plate so I said I will just have to add my seasoning on this cabbage and Bless the Lord, Anyhow!!! Now that strawberry cake, OMG!!!! Somebody put their foot in that cake my God today!!!.... It was sooooo moist and good, Lord Jesus of Nazareth! I literally had to stop myself because I was already full from that one Turkey neck, lol. So, to sum up my experience it was alright and if I come again, I would probably only order meat with rice and gravy/cornbread. Oh and a delicious piece of cake. I will try that Pineapple or Red Velvet cake and really just pass out.
Just a suggestion Mrs. Annie B, the meat is awesome but if you work on those sides, you have on your menu. I promise you that you will have a line outside the door. God Bless you and your establishment. Have...
Read moreI don’t even know where to start. Saw a review on TikTok about this restaurant. We usually go to Mikey’s or Thisisit! Both amazing places btw but we decided to try something a little closer. The Location was hard to find with the black out windows and plastic banner outside. When you get inside the food in the pans were scarce and employees has no intentions on being out more. The chafers had no lid coverings for the food. We ordered turkey necks collards and yams with side of Mac n cheese Turkey wing with dressing and yams with side of Mac n cheese A kids chicken wings rice and Mac n cheese (they do not have tenders even though it’s on the menu) Strawberry cake Peach cobbler Total was 78.43 Oh and was not made aware that we had to wait 25 mins for the peach cobbler.
Now once the food made it home we warmed it up bc it was a 15 mins drive home.
The turkey necks definitely wasn’t cleaned before being cooked they had an awful taste to them. I removed them from the bed of rice and the sauce from the turkey necks had the rice tasting the same. SMH Mac and cheese was disgusting! I can’t believe people actually enjoy cream of chicken in their Mac n cheese! Collards and yams were the only things that were pleasant enough to eat IMO.
The chicken wings from the kids order were rubbery and slightly pink inside. My son didn’t eat anything from his plate.
The turkey wings were fatty and lacked seasoning, still had the taste like the turkey necks as if they were not cleaned properly before cooking. Stuffing was dry and this could be due to no lids covering food.
Food workers did not have gloves on for hair nets.
Update: I called the restaurant to speak to Tracy the manager and was told there had not been any complaints that day regarding the food! Were asked questions like did we still have the food? How was the customer service but no solution to the problem. I even offered to bring the food back in order to receive a refund. She told me that I couldn’t receive a refund but they would make another plate for us. My question is: if I didn’t enjoy how the food tastes what makes you think I want another plate of food?? I informed her that I would reach out to my bank and file a dispute which I is what I did. Horrible FOOD HORRIBLE SERVICE HORRIBLE OWNER....
Read moreListen I’ve heard the hype so I decided to give you all a try. I stood in the extremely long line only to be disappointed in the taste of my food. If I wasn’t so pissed off I would have had a picture of my food but unfortunately I threw it out. Let’s get into the foods. Everything look delicious. I ordered the oxtails let me tell you extremely salty and the gravy??? Where is it? The oxtails are in this greasy juice and just poured over rice. That’s not a gravy. The yams were good the Mac and cheese no seasoning. Should have taken some seasoning from oxtails. The cornbread I like sweeter cornbread so it was a no for me. The beef tips again no gravy just juice and they are tangy ewwww. Green beans are good but a bit salty also cabbage was salty. Mashed potatoes (boxed) TRASH.. Smothered Porkchops is a fried porkchop w gravy on the top. 1 Porkchops for $20 dollars is crazy. The prices are extremely high and the quality of the food honestly not worth it. You gave me piled of plates of straight BS. I’m so pissed off about my visit and I’m going to just stop watching videos. Food look good but taste need some work. Make some real gravy instead of juices from what you baking. That’s not gravy. Less salt as everyone can’t have all that salt on those meats. A good flavored gravy and your meat doesn’t need all that seasoning. Only thing I completely enjoyed was the cake. Melt in your mouth. Everything else is Trash. I won’t be returning. Wasted over $100 and stood in that long line...
