Danny's Mexican Restaurant — Restaurant in Texas

4-25-25 First visit today at lunch time. As we sat we were given chips and salsa. Both were hand made, and the salsa was some of the freshest we have ever had. Wife said it was so good she would be happy to return and just have chips and salsa. She ordered Liver and Onions, which came with mashed potatoes and gravy, steamed vegetables and toast. She said the L&O and potatoes and gravy was all really good, the vegies were ok, but the carrots could have been cooked longer. In the middle of the meal we were offered a small bowl of soup each, that should have come before the meal, but they were still making it. We said yes and let it cool some. It had carrots zucchini and elbow macaroni. The soup was also good. I ordered 2 Enchiladas & 1 Chili Cheese Burrito, which came with rice and beans. All was good, except for one edge of the burrito was hard/crunchy. The only thing I felt was off was around noon, a woman came in off the street with a bullhorn in hand, and began reading from the bible. The food was excellent, but the service and the experience were so horrible that we would not return. We honestly had one of the best botanas we had in a long time. Unfortunately, our server seemed to have a disconnect between what we asked for and what she would bring us. We asked for queso, she brought it and asked if we would like chips for it??? I asked for another Mexican Coca Cola Light, she opened and brought a regular Mexican Coke. Our check was already on our table as soon as the food was out, as if they wanted us to hurry. This of course led to her correcting it with every addition.

The WORST PART OF ALL...the other server was mopping the floor and didn't seem to think it would be a good idea to place the wet floor sign where guests can see it as they head towards the door, so our 16 yr old slipped hard as he was walking out to take a call. Thankfully he didn't hit his head, but his iphone was in his hand that he used to brace his fall. He cracked the screen. Not one employee apologized for the incident once they saw that he got up fine....

Went on a Wednesday at around 2:45pm. Got the Danny's plate. It came with two enchiladas, Two tacos, a tostada with toppings, rice and beans on the side. Vegetables were fresh. Rice was bland and felt like mush. Beans were ok not too special. Enchiladas were ok they had cheese in them not much can go wrong there. Taco meat was bland and tacos had a lot of grease not that it was a bad thing cause the grease had most of the flavor. Did get a look at the chicken fried steak I believe. Looked decent enough might go and try it. But I was profoundly disappointed in how tasteless the plate was. It has the name sake of the restaurant.
