The honest truth.... The double cheeseburger is one of those hidden gems someone has to tell you about before you ever know it even existed. It is by far a 6 star on the scale, but I gave a 3 star on this one due to poor management. Why would you schedule a skeleton crew with a brand new waitress/cashier with absolutely no guidance or help. She hadn't been trained to operate the register, the menu, how to set dine in guest or anything else pertaining to the normal day in and day out operations of a restaurant. There was only one couple seated at a table when me and my buddy rode our motorcycles to get some late night grubbage. We planned on getting a shake to drink while we wait for the food to come out, but the whole ordering process took about an hour ( no exaggerating). We clearly requested the shakes be served immediately after placing the order so that we would have plenty of time to get the shake knocked out before getting back on the bikes to take the food back to the house. So we finally got our order put in and although we made the request for the shakes to be made first, the misguided waitress walks back to the kitchen at least 6 times then to the table where the couple were to help them then back to the kitchen and then back to the front but by now another couple of guys walked in and she proceeded to help them. So after about 30 minutes of watching this waitress do everything except what we specifically asked she finally gets around to making the shakes. Before she is done making them guess what... Yep our food is already ready and waiting on the counter. She hands us the food and then our shakes and doesn't even acknowledge the fact that we are basically going to do one of two things. Either waste the shake and throw it away so we can get home to eat warm cooked food or drink the shakes and eat soggy fries and cold hamburger when we finally get home. We tossed the shakes and were about to leave when we realized that she never took our money. To be honest I feel like that whole meal should have been completely reimbursed and that would have been an easy way to get it, but that's not the right thing to do so we walked back up to the register and reminded her that we hadn't paid yet. After she terribly miscalculated the totals for each order my buddy pulls out that much cash and hands it to me and I was going to get the total tab on my debit card. It didn't sound right to me but it had already been so long and difficult to get anything done up to this point and I wanted to eat somewhat warm food at the house so I just went with it. I basically ended up paying all the tax and about 3 extra dollars of my buddies meal. I'm not a happy camper. Don't get me wrong I'm not going to boycott all Denny's restaurants forever, but this particular one on Eastman Rd. In Longview TX will not be visited again. The way I see it is if you have a manager that can manage an establishment in this manner and care so little for the complete satisfaction of the customers how far could that mentality go.... Serving raw food, spit in drink, occasional hair they saw go in your food or cup and just kept on, dropped food on the floor and dusted off and placed back on the plate. The list goes on and on but you get my point if she is willing to watch two guys walk out due to not being served and see two guys waiting as long as we did and getting upset and the manager still did nothing to make it right why would they make anything else right that would satisfy us. I don't expect a reimbursement for the meal now, but that would have completely saved my whole Outlook and opinion on the matter. I hope this helps some of you out there that enjoy the random late...
Read moreSo we decided to do a delivery order and it was Denny's to the rescue. Not sure why all the negative reviews but kind of figure it's the people here in East Texas not so much the restaurant staff.
Dash quoted me a delivery time between 40 and 60 minutes and my food was here exactly 45 minutes after I placed the order. The driver was a little lost but that's nothing to complain about because I do live out in the middle of nowhere. What I can complain about is that the driver did not read the directions that I had given when I placed my order. This would have solved a lot of headaches and the food would have been delivered a lot sooner.
Order number one - brisket melt with a side order of hash browns. This was husband approved and he enjoyed every bit of it.
Order number two - patty melt with a side order of seasoned fries. Anybody who knows Denny's knows it's all about their season fries that's it that's all the sides you need. Patty melt was delicious and fresh. Burger was juicy & onions cooked perfect.
Order number three - appetizer combo which we included Buffalo bites, onion rings, chips & queso, and chicken strips. This is the perfect picky kid approved meal because it offers a little bit of everything. We decided on a side of the new Nashville hot sauce and that sauce is absolutely delicious. I wish they had given us a few more of those cuz my daughter definitely did enjoy them and this is usually a child that just likes ranch dressing with her chicken nuggets.
Order number four - cobb salad this included bacon, fresh avocado, tomatoes, cheese, hard boiled eggs and potato sticks on top of iceberg lettuce. Dressing of choice of course was Ranch. It was a good salad minus the Potato Sticks there was just way too many of them and they did not add any nice flavor or texture to the salad at all. I wish they had just serve those...
Read moreI ended up going at like 2 in the morning so that very well could make all the difference. However, that being said our waitress was a little on the rude side she did apologize a lot and I mean a LOT for how long it took to get our order in (almost an hour later when we where the only four people in the entire place) and then she didnt even get half of it right. Though I will say they did not charge us for the wrong food but it did take almost another twenty minutes to get the right food. I say a lot and I do mean a lot; it was just kind of like she did more apologizing than she did her job and I would have totally understood if when we first put our order in there had been more people however like I said we where the only people there until almost three when we finally got our food and like I said it wasnt even right. Other than that food was well prepared place was very clean and the other waitress was super friendly. There where some rather rude and I'm just guessing here rather drunk customers that decided to cause a ruckus when we were leaving but other than that it was pretty ok. Would have given it more stars if our first waitress had been a little better about doing her job and not making up so many excuses as to why everything was so wrong. As some one who's done her job I know how demanding it can be so I feel like if she had put the same amount of effort in to doing her job as she did to make up lame and half way excuses it would have been a better...
