I hate thatI have to give this place 3 stars. I have been a customer of El Norteno for a long time. I have been to all their locations and we hav enjoyed their food 99% of the time. I haven't tried anything that I don't like yet. However a good biz has to have good service. For the most part service has been good, a few times we have had issues or got a wrong order, it's nothing new it happens to everyone. I have to mention we do not live close to any if their locations, we always have to drive a minimum 20 mins when we want some good birria. We like this place that much but last night we went to get tacos, drove the 20 mins n we were disappointed. 1st when we arrived the lady announced the system was not working, we asked why can't she charge us manually? She said she didn't know how to calculate the taxes. We almost left but waited about 10 mins to see if they could get up and running. They did n took our order. Luckily we decided to eat in our car because after all that wait our order was wrong we ordered 3 birria, 3 fajita with flour, 2 campechano four. My wife took the food back we got 6 birria no fajita. They remade them, wrong again they were suppose to be in flour they made them in corn. Frustrated she again had to take them back only this time the lady argued with her that she ordered them in corn. My wife told her pull up the receipt the lady refused to. After going back and forth a bit they finally made them right. Very upsetting to be a customer that's travels to eat their food and be treated like this. It bothers me to even write this review but that is unacceptable from any biz. Maybe the owners will fix the service and I can...

Absolutely Mind-Blowing Birria – A Hidden Gem in Spring, TX!

I’ve now ordered from El Norteño Tacos #6 six times on Uber Eats — and today, I was completely shocked to find out this place is actually a food truck! The quality, consistency, and sheer flavor explosion of the food had me convinced it was coming from a full restaurant kitchen. But nope — just a humble truck parked on Aldine Westfield, delivering some of the best food I’ve ever eaten in my life.

My go-to is their Four Birria Taquitos, and let me tell you — it’s insane. Each order comes with four corn street tacos absolutely stuffed with tender, juicy brisket birria and melted Monterey Jack cheese. They’re topped with fresh onions and cilantro, and served with grilled onions, a grilled jalapeño, a fiery habanero salad, lemon, and a side of rich, aromatic birria broth (consommé).

That consommé? I want to drink it straight. No shame. I dunk those taquitos in that broth, drown them in the fresh green salsa that comes with the meal, squeeze lime juice over the top, then go in for a bite. It’s messy, indulgent, spicy, savory, and perfectly balanced. The freshness of the onions and cilantro, the richness of the meat and cheese, the smokiness of the grilled toppings — it’s a whole experience.

You can feel the care that goes into every element of the dish. It’s prepared with love, precision, and respect for flavor. Every time, I end up devouring the meal faster than I want to — because it’s just that good.

If you’re anywhere near Spring and you haven’t tried this place yet, you’re seriously missing out. Whether you order online or stop by the truck, prepare to have your...

Okay so ive been coming to this taco place 4 days in a row. The food is consistently good. I get the 5 tacos: 3 fajita and 2 either trompo or longaniza. I prefer the longaniza it's not too oily and very fresh. The tacos are fairly small but they're still good.

Here is the downside: the inconsistency of the pricing. One day the same plate is $10.67 and the next its rounded up to $11. It is advertised as $9.99.... so the $10.67 is correct. The other times the cashier is just either lazy or onto something when taking .33 cents per customer who orders that plate. It adds up. Same thing with their waters. They're over priced! The horchata is pretty good. The rest not so much. But one day they're $4 and other days $4.50 once you confront them about it they act dumb.

update

11/9/2023 After I wrote my first review I frequented this taco truck 5 more times. Do not get the longaniza/chorizo after 5pm because it's made in the morning. They stop cooking the trompo and fajita a few hours before they close so be prepared to eat some dry tacos if you show up an hour before they close.

Today I went and once again ordered my usual (5 taco plate 3 trompo and 2 fajita) and to my surprise there was a new price! The day before $11 and today $11.20... they nickel and dime every order. The price advertised on the menu says 9.99 and somehow the price differs depending on the cashier. I canceled my order and am done being robbed .20 to .40 cents every time I...

Ordered some birria tacos an hour before they closed. They were 22 dollars for myself and my husband. First thought: they have to be good if they were this expensive. So I got a little excited for it. We waited about 20 minutes to get them back. I guess the cashier was having a bad day but he was rude and said they were already closed. When our order was right in front of him. We let him know we ordered it already and I guess he didn’t hear us so he repeated we are closed. Then we repeated ourselves and he said oh, and said Nora? Yes that’s us. Gave us order and didn’t say anything else. We got home and opened the bag. First red flag: no Birria Consomé so we said oh well. Tried the tacos. Blandest Birria tacos I have ever had. Have no flavor no love no salt. It made me think if these tacos were this bland and I can only imagine the consomé. If you’re going to charge 11 dollars per box of the blandest tacos in Houston then I suggest you either lower price or put more love into it.

Freezing temperatures and the white truck owner (who I think is the food truck owner) inside his truck, I walk to the food truck to the people inside not paying me attention, the one guy inside the food truck, looked at me and turned around cause the lady next to him was talking then opened the window to let me know it was closed. Customer service should be priority, and much more when everybody in this city knows the temperature today is so low. Not coming back just because of that!

Service at Norteno Taco was good; however, once I got home, which is only about 10 minutes away, most of my food was cold. I had to reheat it, which was disappointing. The flavor was okay, but considering the price, I felt it was a bit much. The tacos were particularly small and had extra tortilla with little meat. On the positive side, the torta was good. Overall, based on the hype, I wasn't impressed, but I might give it another try in the future.
