I was absolutely excited to have a Freddy’s in Princeton. Finally something besides McDonalds or Jack in the Box… but Freddys corporate should not let these people keep operating this location.
First off a minor annoyance — I ordered through the mobile app but they don’t allow you to pick up mobile orders in the drive thru. If I wanted to go inside I wouldn’t bother with the damn app.
When you walk into the first set of doors the foyer smells like manure or sewage and just hits you in the face like a brick. Then when you go into the main dining area it just smells like burning plastic.
I figured it’s just growing pains.. they’ve been busy since they opened but I was the only one there when I went.
I ordered two burgers, cheese curds, a custard and two large drinks (Dr pepper and diet Dr Pepper).
The custard was less than half full — even with the toppings it didn’t reach the rim of the cup, and it was given to me 10 minutes before the food was ready so it was half melted by the time I left.
The cheese curds were overcooked and also less than half full. Ridiculous considering how expensive they are.
The person handed me the two large drinks and I asked which was diet because I can’t drink regular soda. She didn’t know and the cups weren’t marked. Then she took the cups and came back with (hopefully) two new cups and she had written R and D on the lids with a sharpie…. THERE ARE PLACES ON THE LID TO PRESS FOR DIET, COLA, AND OTHER! You don’t have to write on my damn cup!
I would’ve spoken to the manager but the fumes from whatever the hell is making that smell was making me nauseous so I left. I am sending this to their contact info on the site however.
Overall this was worse than any experience I’ve had with the other fast food restaurants...
Read moreThis was not a great first time experience. I went through the drive thru and a man was there to take my order. He handed me a flyer with ZERO prices on it. I ordered a single patty burger (no cheese) MEAL with a medium drink and a side of cheese curds. I also ordered a tiny concrete. Like I said, this was my first time so I had major sticker shock when he said the total was $20! I asked why it cost so much, then he said something about the curds being rung up wrong and they could fix it at the window. They did fix it at the window and then said the total was $17.73. I was STILL in sticker shock but paid anyway. The lady at the window explained the cheese curds were an upcharge. I guess I should have known that but since it was my first visit, I didn't. The paper at the drive thru listed them beside the fries and onion rings like they were all the same.
After I received my food, I was sooooo surprised at how small and not great the burger was. It was seriously comparable to McDonald's. The cheese curds were tasty but they didn't squeak and the concrete was good.
I definitely do not think that I will ever go to Freddy's again....$17 for a tiny burger is ridiculous for lunch at a FAST FOOD restaurant when I could go to...
Read moreFreddy’s in Princeton is our go-to when we’re craving steakburgers, shoestring fries, and a frozen custard that tastes like a hug from someone who’s not afraid of sugar. The food? Usually hits the spot—crispy edges on the burger, fries that disappear faster than I’d like to admit. It’s not always consistently amazing, but when it’s good, it’s really good.
Service is solid—friendly folks who keep the line moving and get your order right more often than not. I’ve never left thinking, “Wow, that cashier hated me,” which is honestly a win in fast food these days.
Now for the atmosphere. Let’s just say the custard isn’t the only thing that sticks. The floor is usually on the slicker side of suspicious, and you’ll likely need to do some recon to find a clean table. It’s giving “high school cafeteria meets post-soccer game rush.”
That said, the frozen custard almost makes up for it. Smooth, creamy, and borderline addictive. If you leave without trying the concrete or a sundae, we can’t be friends.
It’s not a five-star steakhouse, but it is the kind of place where the kids are happy, the fries are hot (most of the time), and the custard doesn’t disappoint. Just maybe bring a few extra napkins…...
