I never write reviews ever, but Fu Manchung is so good that I have to write one. My family and I love Vietnamese food, and believe me when I say we went to several Vietnamese restaurants, and by far, Fu Manchung is far the best one yet. I had tried their L4: Vermicelli Noodles with homemade eggrolls, lemongrass flavored beef, and shrimp with fresh veggies, and it was sooooo DELICIOUS. They have put everything I love in one bowl, and the mix of everything is just perfect. I had also tried their fried rice, and it was just as good as the vermicelli noodles. PLUS, the portion is so big that you really get your money's worth. They also had given us complimentary Thai tea, and you better believe it when I tell you it's the best Thai tea I've ever tasted. Ok, I know people wouldn't read a long review. If you're sold, then you can stop reading, but for those who are not, I'll give a more extensive review... One thing I really love about Fu Manchung, compared to any other Vietnamese or any other Asian restaurant, is that I don't get tired of their food after a few bites, which I usually get when eating in other Asian restaurants. It's not too salty or sweet; it just has the right amount of flavor in it. Looking at their food and tasting it, you know that somebody made it with love and passion. It might sound cliche, but you know that food was made not only to sell for profit but to make the customers happy. Also, I love that they don't have a long menu list, and you are not overwhelmed with food items that look and sound exactly the same. As you enter the restaurant, they also have big pictures of their menu, which will give you a good idea of what it is. The staff is also knowledgeable about their food items, so they can answer you if you have any questions or if you want recommendations. The ambiance of the restaurant is also pretty good. Overall, I recommend this place, not only for their delicious food but their excellent service as well. I commend the whole staff, the manager, and the chef for the excellent...
Read moreThis was our first visit to Fu Manchung, and they did NOT disappoint. In fact, it cannot be overstated and just how AMAZING the food is at this establishment! We began by ordering the combo appetizer. The fresh hand-made-from scratch egg roll, Mac & Cheese rolls and crab cream cheese rolls, paired with the in-house barbecue sauce and sweet and sour sauce were the perfect start to our meal. While the Mac and cheese was a surprising marriage of comfort food and Asian cuisine, the pork egg rolls were clearly made freshly in-house. There is no other word for crab cream cheese egg rolls other than a delight!
When our main courses arrive, we were astonished at the massive portion sizes, and again blown away with the quality of the freshness and delicious flavors! The “Broke A$$ Ramen” with all three protein choices (chicken, beef, and shrimp) was so flavorful words fail to adequately describe. You just have to taste it for yourself! (And the shrimp are HUGE!!)
My wife ordered the Hot and Mild Spice Wontonic, which she allowed me to sample. It had a bold flavor, Warm, but not overpowering rich notes in the broth that will make your soul sing! The pork slices and wontons were perfectly seasoned.
We both had to get to-go containers and ordered Strawbango Furit Smoothies with Boba. The fresh flavors and ice-cold smoothies were a perfect ending to a wonderful dinner out on a hot summer night.
And this is ONLY the food! We were greeted at the door with warm smiles and hospitality. Our server Ashlyn never let our water glasses go under half full, and we’re filled by no less than four different employees. Every one of them asking how our meal was. Chloe was very engaging and kind. And when we were giving our compliments about the food, Chef Taylor himself came out to ask us about it! I shook his hand, and he asked for our names and treated us like family.
If I could give 10 stars I would! If you’re reading this review, and in the area, do yourself a favor and COME to this restaurant! It’s absolutely...
Read moreVery sad this place didnt work out for us. I wanted to like it, but it wasnt up to our standards. Ordering was weird, you order upfront and pay up front. Now i know why. I took my son to get Pho and i wanted bun bo hue turns out they dont serve it. Instead, i ordered the dumpling soup recommended by the man up front. It looked delicious, but when i bit into the first dumpling it was cold in the middle! The soup wasnt even piping hot, i immediately pushed the remaining dumplings down into the soup to eat last so they would warm up. Ate the noodles, found only 3 small pieces of meat, and then the dumplings- which had no flavor. I immediately started sweating, mind you the soup was neither spicy nor hot. I have MSG sensitivity so i can only assume this was the issue. The man from the front even noticed and commented how i "worked up a sweat".
Also, and this is a nitpick, i do NOT care for reusable wooden chopsticks. The paint is scraped off on the tips by previous diners' teeth, and the dishwasher chips off the varnish as well. Its gross. Posted pic of the 'good' pair.
So, if you dont mind paying up front before experiencing a meal, eating luke warm soup and cold dumplings, scarely any meat, chewd on chop sticks( i pretended to knock mine on the floor for another set and got some slightly less cheewed) and getting whatburger afterward, then maybe going to enjoy eating here. No, i did NOT complain because after tasting my sons Pho broth( it was really sweet- heavy on fish sauce), i knew we wouldnt be back. Sorry to be verbose, but i just had to say what needed to be described. The staff were really nice, this is not a knock on them. The inside has a cool vibe and outside seating might an option. This review is on the food we ate. Just, Not a good...
