Karma Kolache & Dessert — Restaurant in Texas

This place popped up in my Uber Eats app and upon looking at the menu, I realized there were more than the usual amount of kolache and donut selections. I decided to drive to Karma to view the selection for myself.

There were a few customers inside, but I was still helped by someone immediately. The urgency to assist me was great customer service, but even after I told her I was a first time customer, she was still very hasty to assist me. It was a bit overwhelming to see the various kinds of kolaches so I asked her for a minute. She began naming off several kinds of kolaches, which would be helpful for someone else, but I distinctly requested a moment. I finally chose two that I wanted to try and would’ve ordered more, but I felt rushed.

I ordered the boudin kolache and the potato and egg kolache. The boudin was okay, but the potato and egg was extremely flavorless. There was no point to the filling because it tasted like nothingness. The bread of the kolache, however, is absolutely delicious!!

I also decided on the kronut holes, which I’ve never had before, but they were really tasty. Slightly crispy and glazed on the outside with a soft croissant dough on the inside. I also received a free donut through the five stars rewards program, and opted for plain glazed. The donut was also delicious.

The guy at checkout was friendly, funny, and showed great customer service. I will definitely return to tryout...

I tried using a new service called Too Good To Go, which allows customers to purchase at a discount goods not sold by the end of the day. I received a message saying my order was ready ahead of the normal pick up time. The order was not ready so the employee packed a box. When it came time to “check out” I was unable to access the checkout code on the app. I was told to come back during the regular check out time. When I was able to access the check out code 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time, I went back into the store. The box the employee had packed was sitting by the register. However, because it was still 15 minutes before the pick up time, she would not give me the box due to “store policy”. I understand stores have policies, but she was not going to change the box or repack it. She just wouldn’t give it to me. This is horrible customer service and I won’t be going back. I would have cancelled, but I had sat in traffic for a while to get there and I wanted something positive...

Definitely had a mixed bag of results with this breakfast. I’ll start off by saying that most their kolaches were really good. The Egg/Cheese, Philly Cheesesteak, and Brisket were all delicious, while the Spicy Sausage and Cheese was pretty decent. The downsides to the meal were related to the donut and croissant sandwich. I ordered a Chocolate Iced donut, but ended up with a Chocolate Iced w/ Sprinkles. Not the end of the world, but still not what I asked for. The Egg and Cheese Croissant sandwich though was very disappointing. The sandwich came with two cold slices of cheese that hadn’t been melted on in any way. I ended up having to toast it myself just so the entire sandwich warmed up and the cheese was easier to eat (and like a typical breakfast sandwich).
