Visiting Karma Kolache in Houston, Texas, as a New Yorker with Guyanese heritage was a delightful fusion of familiarity and discovery. The place is a treasure trove of flavors, radiating warmth and hospitality, embodying the diverse culinary tapestry of Houston. Each kolache was a small piece of art, impeccably made, with flavors bursting in every bite, a beautiful reminder of the stuffed breads from my Guyanese heritage.
Being a connoisseur of diverse culinary landscapes, I was genuinely impressed with the variety and the finesse with which each kolache was prepared. The blend of sweet and savory options made choosing just one a delightful dilemma. The flavors were rich and comforting, a delightful mingling of textures and tastes reminiscent of home, yet uniquely Texan.
The staff were incredibly welcoming, adding to the overall pleasant experience, their southern charm was a comforting embrace compared to the hurried interactions back in New York. The cleanliness and relaxed ambiance of the place made it a cozy retreat to enjoy the culinary delights.
Karma Kolache is a culinary gem that beautifully amalgamates diverse flavors and is a must-visit spot for anyone looking to savor a piece of Houston’s rich,...
Read moreI went in to order a donut and a matcha tea latte. Walking in there are no customers, but myself. As soon as I asked for the matcha latte, the service lady says that “we don’t have any” in a tone that sounds like she’s happy she won’t have to make me one. No apology for the inconvenience, so I ask her what other flavors do you have available and so as she goes to the coffee corner to read what other flavors she has. No lie there is a flavor box of “Thai tea” so I say “ funny there’s a Thai tea box right on top of the rest of the flavors”. She still insists that there is any in there. SO I ask for a coconut latte, then I get my donut, almost at the register with her and customers walk in and says to me“ it will be a moment to make your latte” (she points at the customer walking in ) wth I arrived here during an empty shop and then the next customer after me takes priority. As checking out for my donut, I tell her to forget the latte. Such an unfortunate experience to have experienced due to her unfriendliness, it’s like this when I ask for a frappe/latte. I don’t think she likes making those :/ do...
Read moreI been coming here for years now since they opened up and moved recently to a further location. I came back to get my usual Nutella donut holes / half dozen and the Hispanic lady at the front with the blonde hair heard 6 donuts and changed my husband $15. We immediately told the lady that she made a mistake and she told us she didn’t care and that there was nothing that she could do. We asked for a refund and for our order to be changed since she made the mistake. She told us that we weren’t going to get our money back and that we had to leave . I asked to speak to a manager and she told me no, that we had to come back another day. This is not okay. We own a food business as well and we are not this rude to our customers. I literally feel as if we got robbed. I been coming here for years and the owners have always been nice but this Hispanic lady was so rude. She should know better not to argue with a customer or roll her eyes. I can’t believe we got charged $15 for and order that was supposed to be just...
