CHICKEN BIRYANI RICE TO DIE FOR!!!
This little gem is positioned slightly stand-offish on the side of FM 529 Rd, a hectic, fast-paced, and chaotic street that's occupied with impatient road-raging drivers. It's pretty easy to miss this tiny, but GREAT Halal Supermarket if you're too busy watching out for the Fast and the Furious flying by you with no regard to their own life or the lives of others.
A few months ago, I wrote a review on this place and was hoping to try some of their cooked food. However, I was met with the disappointment that they were not selling any cooked food items due to lack of workers. Recently, when I stopped by to purchase some of their Halal chicken in their meat department, I learned that they had resumed selling cooked meals. Because I'm always in search of great Indian cuisine, I was so excited and eager to purchase an order of their Chicken Biryani Rice and Naan. Man oh Man!!! I was not disheartened as I bit into the first bite of rice and tasted the infused flavors of coriander, cumin, cardamom, and masala as they burst into my mouth like fireworks on the 4th of July! This popular South Asian dish is a pile of steamed aromatic deliciousness if prepared correctly. There were also tender chunks of halal chicken pieces distributed evenly in the rice which were bursting with traditional rich Indian flavors as well! I must say that this establishment has a chef that knows what they're doing in the kitchen. THE CHICKEN BIRYANI RICE IS TO DIE FOR!!! It possesses the rich and savory flavors of blended herbs with a hint of spiciness that's done just so right!
Furthermore, I ordered their garlic naan to accompany my meal and it was equally delicious as the rice. I could taste the rich and pungent blended flavors of butter and garlic in each glorious bite that I took. It was topped with sprinkles of cilantro which was evident in each bite, resulting in an additional explosive burst of flavor! Who would have known a simple flatbread dish could taste so delicious? It was the perfect combination of spices and herbs paired with the chicken biryani rice which made for a savory and fulfilling meal!
Overall, I am smitten with this tiny Halal establishment that not only sells groceries, but also delicious cooked items. Additionally, they also cater large meals for families and small gatherings. I would suggest that you're prepared to wait for a little while after ordering your food because it takes time for them to prepare the magic in the kitchen, so you might want to call ahead and place an order before arriving at the store. I don't mind the wait as long as they continue to deliver freshness and quality! I always order my food upon entering and then I shop around the store while waiting for my order to be prepared. My husband and I are always stocking up on their halal chicken portions and ground chicken. Warning; make sure you check the freshness of the meat in the meat department for discoloration because sometimes they tend to leave unfresh raw meat sitting out on display. So, I encourage you to use your own judgment in picking out the best quality and fresh meats! Customer service is wonderful. They are a friendly and welcoming team. Highly...
Read moreVery rude owner. I was looking for a particular product that they did not have and I was ok with that and a nice store associate told me he didn't have it but was going to check whether they can contact the distributor for that product. I thanked him but the owner came and took it personally and started looking at the product and asking me questions about it. I answered those questions politely but he kept on asking me the same questions that were already answered and I told him thank you and its already been taken care of. Somehow he felt that I disrespected him and told me that he felt that way. I explained my views on it told him there is no issue and I've been helped but he kept on talking and then I even asked him if he has ever heard the term ,"customer is always right"? to which he stated yes and then said but not always. I said well this can go on or be squashed but he kept on talking so I decided to not give him my business. It is disappointing to see that a Brown person can hold such stereotypical views about another Brown person based on Religion. Somewhere in between my conversation with him I was asked about my ethnicity which is Indian. never going back to this store. Sorry for the employees that has to work under...

This place is a hidden gem in Houston! Al Baraka Halal Meat & Grill offers some of the most delicious and authentic halal food I’ve had in the city. The meat is always fresh, perfectly seasoned, and cooked just right — especially the grilled items. Their kebabs and chicken shawarma are a must-try!
What makes it even better is that it’s connected to the World Food Super Market, where you can find a huge variety of Middle Eastern, South Asian, and international groceries — from fresh produce and spices to halal meats and rare snacks you won’t find at big chain stores.
The staff are incredibly kind and welcoming especially Nebrass , the place is clean, and the service is fast. Whether you’re shopping for the week or grabbing a bite to eat, this spot never disappoints.
