Yamato Japanese Steak House — Restaurant in Jersey Village

Edit: After stewing on it a while, I've decided this experience has upset me a bit. The pork was so good but everything else tasted awful. I want to go back so bad! But I want the pork chashu to go with ramen that's actually worth my money! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE work on your ramen recipe! Nearby are places like Jinya and Hikari who make outstanding ramen but the pork was not made as good as it is at Yamato. Sadly, I can't go back just for some pieces of pork. I need to be motivated by more than that. The ramen here was the worst I've ever had. Bland and disappointing even months after my visit.

Until there's an update to their recipe or new ramen options on the menu with better broth, I won't be back.

Went while it was slow for a peaceful meal and got the tonkatsu ramen which was odd. They used angel hair pasta instead of ramen noodles and the broth itself was bland and desperately needs to be improved upon. The thing that saved the meal was the pork itself which was outstanding. The best pork I've had in a good hot minute. Service was nice even if a little slow. Will be back to try something else and that will likely decide whether this is a place we frequent or not. I should have left when I realized it was Friday night and the place was practically empty. Service was terrible. Slow, hard to get their attention, missing items from our order. Had to stand up to flag to get the check and the server dropped the check off and took off despite our having the credit card on hand. Bad service from beginning to end. Ordered squid that was covered with some weird sweet teriyaki type of sauce that did not pair well with the way the squid was grilled. Ordered a spider roll that was prepared with shrimp instead of soft shell crab. If there was any doubt, the shrimp shell was left in the roll. Ordered a "yummy" roll that was anything but. The "spicy" sauce was bland. It was cut up in very big slices. Because it was not bite sized it was falling apart. Ordered takoyaki for an appetizer and we had to ask for dishes to share the appetizer. When they came back with dishes they were still not enough to go around. I had high hopes for this place and was very disappointed. The hibachi grill was busy most of the time we were there. It's possible that food was better prepared, but given the poor service, we won't return...

Older post This place is amazing ya. Food was so good. Very fresh and so tasty. Plus the feeling you get when you walk in speaks so much volume. Service was top notch. Food is plated to perfection.
