I shopped and sold there 4 years ago. It was decent, the clothes price was good for some, dance items are very well priced, furniture is decent but mostly overpriced for used clothing compared to new at Target and Kohls. I received back then a somewhat fair exchange for my items. In the last two years the teenagers (or look and act like teens) who run the shop, sit behind the counter, some just sitting there, do not even research prices on my items and have often not even looked at what I've brought to sell. I will leave my things, they tell me to come back in an hour or two, so I go out of my way to go places nearby although I have better things to do, I come back and they haven't even looked at my box, grab it and rummage quickly through it (maaaybe) and then blurt out a price of $3 for a bin full of newly tagged, gently used. I've brought in high end brands with tags attatched that was given to us or I lost the receipt but never wore, brand new shoes and clothes with tags and they want to give me a quarter or less for them. You say the lowest is 90 cents? Wrong. Then you need to have a talk with them or start putting an experienced adult manager in charge with people smarts. I'd take .90- $1 for each item (shoes etc) even if brand new if I had 25 items because at least I'd leave with $25. I'd take .50 for some clothes too. Even though many of what I brought one item costs $25 and I know you'll sell it for $6 or more dollars.
I'd rather shop at kohls for new items that I get 50% off with a 39% coupon then be in a messy, unruly business run by inexperienced teens. Not worth my time. But it's sad really. Because it's places like these that should be there for those who have less than others and are in need. It's serving them not just people looking...
Read moreI used to think that this store was the best. But after shopping and selling to Kid to Kid in the Galleria, I can say I will never step foot in another Once Upon A child store ever again. The prices are so high that you're better off buying the clothes brand new. Kid to Kid offers MORE AFFORDABLE prices on baby clothes. For an example I found a Tommy Hilfiger sleeveless polo shirt for 6-9M and paid only $4.99. I already know that Once Upon a Child would have charged at least $8.99. If Kid to Kid in the Galleria doesn't overprice, then why should they overprice if they are in the suburbs? Not right.
Response to Owner: Great job on replying back to my response. How come you failed to comment on other reviews about rude staffing? Kid to Kid accepts all types of clothing no matter what season it is. Your staff turned down my summer clothing and only offered $7.00 for eight newborn winter sleepers. I understand you guys have tons of clothes to keep and need to make a profit but seriously $7 bucks for eight pieces of clothing is ridiculous. SO that means I only got back $.87 for each sleeper and you retail those items at about 6.99 a piece which means you just profited $48.93 for my items alone. Is $7.00 really justifiable to your profit. No, that's just greedy. I recently sold about 8 outfits(summer and winter combos) and got back $19.60 at Kid to Kid. I can go to your store and see the same clothes on the racks for months on end. At Kid to Kid, if I see I something I like and try to wait a few days to pick up the item, I can guarantee you that somebody has bought the item. And that's really okay with me because that is a sign that Kid to Kid is doing something right. They have new merchandise on a daily basis that are actually way more affordable...
Read moreI am super unhappy with my experience at this location today. I have gone to many other locations before and this one was the worst! The store was very unorganized and cluttered. The toilet seat had poop on it so we could not even use the restroom. And most importantly a few of the employees were VERY disrespectful. I had chosen a baby doll that didn't have a price. When I went to the register they said it had a backpack with it and it would be $10(which is WAY too much to spend on a used baby doll). I told her I didn't want the backpack and that I just wanted the baby because they were not together in the toy area(again showing customers unorganized the store is). I told her I didn't want it then and the girls rolled their eyes at me and mouthed something. I was about to spend $30 and they think it's appropriate to roll their eyes at customers because I didn't want the item? Not acceptable. I asked to speak with a manager and she walked over and literally didn't say one word, did not ask the young girl to apologize or even apologize for her.. just stared at me. I walked out and didn't purchase a single item. I will no longer be using this location again.
Response to owners reply: Thank you very much for replying to my review. I appreciate you taking the time to respond but my problem was not so much with the price of the baby and the backpack. I would have paid $10 for the baby and the backpack but I would not have paid $10 for just the baby. I really do hope that the girls who work there learn that you cannot treat customers the way that they treated me. It was totally inappropriate for her to continue laughing at me and smiling when I was visibly upset and the manager needs to learn how to Defuse The Situation rather than just staring...
