La Pupusa Loca — Restaurant in Texas

One of the best pupusas I've had in Houston. They have a lot of cheese and aren't greasy or burnt. This is one of the few places that has flavorful salsa and very delicious curtido. There's some problems that they need to work on. First, the wait time. Most every time I've been there, it has been empty and they still take about 25 minutes to bring the food out. I recommend to call ahead so by the time you get there, your food is almost ready. Second, make sure they read you back the order. They have given me different orders so many times before. Stress it to them to please not mess up your order, they notorious for doing that. Lastly, third, the smell is pretty bad. I'm really glad they are renovating. It looks so much better than before, but maybe some plug ins would help with the smell or more use of bleach. They probably mop with dirty mops, who knows... Overall, what's most important is the food and that's why I gave...

Lately they've been lacking service, this is something the owner has to pay attention to. The reason they don't get phone orders is because they just pick up the phone and leave it on the side without even saying hold on or anything I called and they left me hanging for 1 hour and 30 minutes I know its a long time I didn't order after all,just wanted to see how long they would leave me there, I went somewhere else while on the phone, they were just joking and laughing, talking about how they write their own tips on the checks, finally they hung up on me, so I called back just to let them know what they did was wrong, the lady had the nerve to tell me, they were to busy to take my order, and still ask me if I wanted to order, I took screenshots of the time I was on the phone. I hope the owner see's this and makes some changes, I really like the food but the service...

The food was great…nothing burned, everything tasted great. The staff was really nice and our food came out on time. It didn’t take them forever to get our order out either.

Why did I give them a four? Because they need to take some elbow grease into the place and clean it up…I would share pictures but that would take away from the food experience - it was great food really…

There are reviews complaining about the wait time…do realize that the Covid after shocks have impacted most restaurants. It’s probably very difficult for them to find cooks and staff…a little patience goes a long way… There’s also a lot of parking and it’s easy to get...
